(UPDATED) Maintenance Screen: New Feature to Adjust Size/Scaling Note: an additional note has been included regarding the resolution limitations. A new feature has been added to the Maintenance screen in PointCare so that users can adjust the screen size/resolution, much like can be done on a computer desktop. ENH#CC36848 To access this new feature, go to Maintenance->Settings: Display/Font Scaling

A slider control allows the user to define a resolution between 1.0 and 3.0 on their device. Simply drag the slider control to decrease or increase the resolution and notice how the screen changes. Below are examples of this devices screen shown at 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 density.

Upon changing the resolution and tapping the Back menu, the user will be presented with the Save/Discard Changes dialog followed by another dialog asking them to restart PointCare for the changes to properly take effect.

Tapping the Restart Now button will proceed to automatically restart PointCare.

If the Restart Later option is selected, an additional message indicates that some screens may not display

Upon restarting PointCare and successfully logging back in to the application, the user will be prompted with a message after 15 seconds asking to verify their changes or revert to the system default values. This message will automatically choose to revert in 30 seconds.

Based on the user selection to the above message, this will either trigger the end of the process to revert to the system default or keep the selected size if user is happy with the resolution change.

While each user will have their preferences for their specific device, the following ranges are recommended for optimal viewing. Using the recommended ranges will help alleviate the problem shown above. Size of Device Smartphone/Smaller Device 4 Device 7 Device 8 Device 10 Device Minimum 1.3 1.3 1.3 1.0 1.0 Maximum 2.0 2.5 2.5 3.0 3.0

Update on 8/24/12: We have attempted to correct most of the issues above for our August release to production. However, an issue was discovered on Android devices with an operating system of 3.0 or greater where increasing the font size causes some tool bars to lose functions or truncate buttons. Here is an example where the toolbars Cut button truncates and the Paste button disappears when in portrait mode. This issue is scheduled to be fixed in our December release.

In the meantime, switching the device to Landscape mode can alleviate the issue which allows for more functions to show on the tool bar than when in portrait mode. Reducing the font size can also alleviate the issue.
