DishTv is the 1st DTH who wrote it's name in golden Indian DTH era ! It was launched in 2004 by Essel Group's Zee Entertainment Enterprises. It Uses MPEG-2 Digital Compression Technology for SD channels and MPEG-4 for HD channels . DIshTv Currently using Three Satellites for telecasting it's programmes .

Currently Dishtv has 19 transponders .10 TPs from NSS , 4 TPs from AsiaSat and remaining from Insat . As Dishtv is getting 5 TPs from DDD+ on Insat-4B , EPG (Electronic program guide) for these DDD+ channel are not available .One thing is that Dish HD supports 1080i HD quality but not 5.1 Surrounding Sound . 'DishTV on computer' extends the DishTV experience to the computer, offering consumers a dual advantage, as also an array of 171 channels to choose from, along with value added services, active features, gaming, etc. Besides, installing a 'DishTV on computer' is similar to installing a regular DishTV, wherein the set top box is installed on the roof/terrace/balcony facing a particular direction, and the VGA box or special, computer-compatible set top box is connected to the PC.
