MALAYSIAN HIGHWAY AUTHORITY(MHA) Starting from the year of 1980 until now, our country Malaysia have been

one of the most develop country that shows a lot of improvement. All of these improvements are made by the help of the local agencies either related to government or non-government. It is made to ensure that our goal to become a developed country by the year of 2020 become a reality. One of the agencies is Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA). MHA is a statutory body that supervise and execute the design, construction, regulation, operation and maintenance of inter-urban highways, to impose and collect tolls, to enter into contracts and provide for matters connected there-with. It was established on 24 October 1980 in accordance with Act 231 (Corporation 1980). The mission of the agency is to create a center of an excellence highway, strengthening the regulatory highway procedures and improve the customer satisfaction. Furthermore, the vision of the MHA is to make our highways system a world-class management par with other develop country such as United States, Japan and Singapore. In additional, with reference to Act 231, the Highway Authority of Malaysia (Incorporation) Act 1980, the roles of the Authority also to supervise and execute the design, construction and maintenance of highways as determined by the Federal Government. However, after the National Privatizations Policy was introduced in 1983, MHA role as outlined by Act 231, has changed, from a body which is solely responsible for the toll, to be a body responsible for regulating the development and management of toll highways in Malaysia. MHA headquarters was located at Jalan Serdang, Kajang, Selangor. It have many branches throughout all over the country for example in Pulau Pinang, Ipoh, Serdang and Senai. Moreover, MHA also had been a supportive agencies that doing some joint venture pact between some others agencies such as Gamuda Holdings Berhad, MMC Corp Berhad, Department of Irrigation And Drainage Malaysia, and Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART). These agencies have collaborate and had make their contribution in order to make the Smart Tunnel a successful project to alleviate the flooding problem in the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. The tunnel will be able to divert large volumes of flood water from entering this critical stretch via a holding pond, bypass tunnel and storage reservoir. This will reduce the flood water level at the Jalan Tun Perak Bridge, preventing spillover.
