Rubber tube sheet shell-and-tube heat exchanger

Designed for extreme duty on- and off-highway applications

General information Based on a revolutionary technology, the rubber tube sheet (RTS) shell-and-tube heat exchanger reduces or eliminates the need for brazing, improves engine reliability, reduces part-to-part vibration and reduces engine lifecycle costs. The rubber tube sheet heat exchanger is designed to operate in extreme duty applications, on- and off-highway. The design flexibility allows for easy tailoring of single and multiple tube pass coolers with various connection orientations to fit specific OEM engine manufacturer requirements. Applications Rubber tube sheet shell-and-tube heat exchangers can be easily customized to fit specific customer requirements and are suitable for a variety of applications. They provide maximum efficiency, and are able to withstand high flow rates with a low pressure drop. General applications include: Powertrain diesel engine, power generation and transmissions Heavy duty vehicles on- and off- road and military vehicles Marine gasoline and diesel engines, both inboard and outboard Specialty vehicle fire truck, ambulance, motor homes and transit buses Commercial Process fluids, irrigation, hydraulic oil, lube oil and heat reclamation

Benefits Improves engine reliability and durability Eliminates the need for brazing Reduces part-to-part vibration Reduces engine lifecycle costs Integrated, custom designs available Shell and tube materials are tailored independently to meet process needs resulting in a lighter weight unit

Working principle Rubber tube sheet shell-and-tube heat exchangers features rubber tube sheets that are pressed into the shell and over the tubes. Because the design eliminates brazing, the tubes are never annealed and the overall strength of the copper tubes is retained resulting in a robust solution. The rubber tube sheets also isolate the tube bundle from engine vibration and thermal expansion. Tubes in the RTS can thermally expand freely eliminating the thermal stresses that can occur in other type of coolers. Removable ends are provided and preferred by many industries for service and maintenance. O-ring seals are also used for reusability.
