Sodium
Sodium
Sodium ion is electrolyte that is required in blood
regulation. But over consumption of sodium lead to stomach cancer and high blood pressure. Sodium mainly come from table salt Food contain sodium including fruits (small amount), milk, meat and etc.
Magnesium
helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function,
keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones strong. Magnesium also helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure, and is known to be involved in energy metabolism and protein synthesis Nuts, bean, milk, spinach are known as good sources of Mg
Samples
Samples were collected from Woolworth
METHOD
To test Ca and Mg we used EDTA complex titration
involving Erio Black T indicator. To determine Ca only, we employed back titration at high pH with hydroxy naphtol blue indicator Sodium content was analysed using Flame Spectrophotometer.

Conclusion
Calcium and Magnesium in milk can be determined
by using titration technique involving two different indicators Erio Black T and hydroxy phenol. The amount of Ca2+ determined in this experiment relatively agree with given labels The amount of sodium found in this experiment much greater than that given on the labels due to the interference of organic molecules like protein and carbohydrate present in samples
