Environment is really important. It given us 1. Water, 2. Air 3. Land 4. Forest 5.

Natural resources Environment is important for social and economic life 1. Resource for food supply 2. Energy source 3. Source for recreation 4. Major source of medicine 5. Natural resources for industrial product The effects on the environment connected with industrial activities are mainly related to the production of industrial wastes that can be divided into various types: solid waste, such as dust particles or slag from coal; liquid wastes from various processes, including radioactive coolants from power stations; and gas wastes, largely produced by the chemical industry. different types of pollution 1. Air pollution Air pollution is actually harmful substances in the atmosphere which damages the environment. With the development of industries came along the increase in air pollution 2. Water Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies ( e.g lakes, rivers, oceans, groundwater) Waterpollution occurs when pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds by mainly the industries Polluted air creates a hazard to general health.

Effects of water pollution are said to be the leading cause of death for humans globe.

3. Land Land pollution is the degradation of earths land surfaces often caused by human activities and their misuse of land resources. It occurs when waste is not disposed properly. Health hazard disposal of urban and industrial wastes, exploitation of minerals, and improper use of soil by inadequate agricultural practice are a few factors. The main reason for land pollution a. Urbanization b. Municipal solid waste c. Industrial waste d. Burning open dumps and forest fires e. Deforestations f. Mining and erosion 4. Noise Noise pollution comes from such machines as airplanes, motor vehicles, construction machinery, and industrial equipment. Noise does not dirty the air, water, or land, but it can cause discomfort, anxiety, and hearing loss in human beings and other animals. 5. Thermal Thermal ollution It is caused by addition of hot effluents and hot water bodies. Warm water contains less oxygen. So there is decrease in rate of decomposition of organic matter. Green algae are replaced by less desirable blue green algae. Many animals fail to multiply. Trout eggs fail to hatch while salmon does not spawm at higher temperature. We can classify major sources that lead to thermal pollution to the following categories: a. Power plants creating electricity from fossil fuel b. Water as a cooling agent in industrial facilities

c. Deforestation of the shoreline d. Soil erosion e. Agriculture sources

6. Electro Electronic waste, describes discarded electrical or electronic devices. There is a lack of consensus as to whether the term should apply to resale, reuse, and refurbishing industries, or only to product that cannot be used for its intended purpose. Informal processing of electronic waste in developing countries may cause serious health and pollution problems, though these countries are also most likely to reuse and repair electronics. Some electronic scrap components, such as CRTs, may contain contaminants such as lead, cadmium, beryllium, or brominated flame retardants. Even in developed countries recycling and disposal of e-waste may involve significant risk to workers and communities and great care must be taken to avoid unsafe exposure in recycling operations and leaching of material such as heavy metals from landfills and incinerator ashes.
