Case Study
Their choice
Objet Eden 260V 3D printing system. Since choosing Objet, Guide3D has overtaken its competitors and is now able to deliver even higher quality surgical guides precision - and with greater speed.
The Challenge
The success of implant-supported restorations requires detailed treatment planning, part of which includes the construction of a surgical guide. Guide3D Ltd. is recognized as an expert in the field of surgical guides construction. Using 3D printing, the company has established a complete digital solution for surgical guides fabrication. Prior to commencement of surgery, careful and detailed planning is required to identify vital structures such as the inferior alveolar nerve or the sinus, as well as the shape and dimensions of the bone to properly orient the implants for the most predictable outcome. Two-dimensional radiographs, such as orthopantomographs or periapicals are often taken prior to the surgery. However, Guide3Ds challenge was to use a CT scan with appropriate software and a 3D printing solution to achieve a precise and accurate surgical guide. For a dental implant procedure to work, there must be enough bone in the jaw, and the bone has to be strong enough to hold and support the implant. If there is not enough bone, more may need to be added with a bone graft procedure. With all these challenges, Guide3D had to find a 3D printing solution to answer all its needs.

The Solution
Computer simulation software based on CT scan data allows virtual implant surgical placement. This provides insight into the vital anatomy, bone quality; implant characteristics and enables experts to decide upon the need for bone grafting. Objets 3D printed models and surgical guides were chosen by implant surgeons to facilitate the proper implant placement based on the final prosthesis occlusion and aesthetics. The Objet Eden260V 3D Printing System proved to be the perfect solution, enabling
Guide3D to immediately design and print surgical guides that will be used for most implant cases. Models produced on the Objet Eden260V can be cold-sterilized, have exceptionally fine details and an outstanding surface finish all necessary for ensuring the high degree of accuracy required by Guide3Ds team and dentists.
The Results
Dental implant surgery is the most frequently demanded dental procedure being carried out today to replace lost teeth. Dental implants are placed via a surgical procedure that takes place in a series of steps. Despite this, it has become the top choice for those who need to replace a missing tooth. By using the Objets Eden 260V 3D Printing System, Guide3D was able to realize a complete digital workflow for in-house fabrication of surgical guides. Guide3D was able to present a greater variety of dental solutions to their dentist clients. Whereas before they were forced to reject or outsource enquiries, they now have the production capability to answer every order that they receive. Guide3D now has the freedom and capacity to continuously add new customers while maintaining tight control over their overheads, and in this way expand their business and stay ahead one step ahead of their competitors.
