Call Maintenance Procedure: DC 240/250

CSE Call Ahead Make initial contact with customer and attempt to diagnose and solve problem remotely over telephone. Negotiate time of arrival with customer. First Call - Train the customer on how to install all CRUs. Show them how to change the Charge Scorotron, how to set up paper trays and what paper type / weight can be run through each tray. Initial Actions On Site: Question operators re: paper jams, print quality, & general machine performance. Inspect any rejected or damaged (physical damage) prints that may be available. Check jam-history for problems and initiate corrective actions as appropriate. Enter DC135 and perform all HFSI actions required. In DC135, check the CC assembly charging time count (954-841). If the count is >80K and the drum count is (954-840) >50K, replace the Charge Scorotron 13R00604 with spare unit. Run 10 copies of test pattern 82E13120 on to 11x17 Color Expressions paper if available (any 94/96/98 brightness paper if possible). Evaluate copies for IQ defects such as light or dark prints, deletions, lines, streaks or marks. Check Eureka Tips and Bulletins for recent technical solutions. If 30K impressions or more since the last service, perform the following: IIT DADF: Vacuum all debris from the paper path. Replace the Feed Rolls if there are excessive DADF jams in the fault history. Clean Nudger, Takeaway, Feed, Retard rolls with film remover. IIT Optics: Remove and clean the platen glass on both sides with lint-free cloth. With glass removed clean the lens, reflector, lamp, and white cal. strip with lint-free cloth. Clean the CVT area and CVT platen glass Finisher Clean all debris from the path. Check the level of the finisher to the IOT. Clean Booklet Paddles with water and align Clean out punch chads. Fuser: Inspect the fuser and replace if causing major IQ defects. As needed, provide customer with a spare fuser CRU. To minimize the impact of edge wear lines, instruct customers on the use of a 2nd dedicated 12 or 8.5 fuser. Provide a 2nd fuser to customers willing to swap fusers for 12 or 8.5 wide paper jobs. Paper Feed / Trays 1-4, MSI HCF, OHCF: Clean the feed, retard and takeaway rollers with water and lint-free cloth. IOT Paper Handling Thoroughly vacuum the 2nd BTR drawer. Check the 2nd BTR for excessive wear and/or contamination / replace as necessary or if at end of life. If not replacing clean thoroughly. Xerographics: Pull out the xerographic developer drawer & cover drums. Caution: Drums are light sensitive. Thoroughly clean xerographic developer drawer top and bottom. Pull out the IBT assembly drawer. Check for belt edge flare against the Edge sensor. If belt is riding up the angled part of the actuator replace the belt then perform Belt Learn routine. Remove the IBT cleaner assembly and discard if at or near end of life. If cleaner is not replaced, carefully vacuum the end seals. Remove IBT belt. Use a soft cloth to clean the entire inside edge (silver patch edge). Inspect and clean the IBT assembly including the belt home sensor, belt edge sensor, drive, & steering rolls. Reinstall belt & cleaner assembly & perform the Belt Edge Learn routine. Replace excessively contaminated CC & Ozone-suction filters.

If Developer Material or Housings are replaced reset the NVMs for that housing or material as required in Serv. Doc. Adj. 9.15. Final Actions: Clean all covers and fill out Service Log. Reset any HFSI counter you have worked on Review the customers CRU on-site stock for excessive inventory. Stocking levels vary by customer needs. General rule of thumb is no more than 1 black CRU and 4 Color CRUs for every 5 machines. DO NOT return Unused CRUs using return label - service expense is lost. Excessive inventory should be redistributed to other accounts or through the 07 return process. Check for On-Site unreturned CRUs. Instruct the customers on the location of the return label (with the instructions). Ask the customer to return all used CRUs. Only using the return label supplied in Box. Make & store 1 copy of 82E13120 on 11X17 paper, 1 copy of the Customer Demonstration original and print out config. report. Store one copy of 82E13120 and configuration report in tray 1 compartment along with updated service log. Present a copy of the Customer Demonstration original to the customer and explain what was fixed. Ask customer if they have any questions / concerns regarding machine that you may or may not have addressed. Offer training materials as needed referring to: http://www.xerox.com/Support
