From Entrance
The park is open daily and you can enjoy the 600 acres of walks and witness the changing seasons in the National Nature Reserve. The shop and restaurant are both open throughout the year. Enjoy the warming local and seasonal food on our lunch menu or delicious cakes to go with your afternoon tea. A wide range of gifts are available in our shop so why not treat yourself or someone special?
Why are the house and gardens closed during the autumn and winter?
The house simply needs a rest! Calke Abbey wasnt designed as a public building so after welcoming thousands of visitors between March and October we need time to carry out conservation work so future generations can enjoy the house and its contents. The gardens are closed so our gardeners can get on with work that cant be done when visitors are around and so the grass paths can recover for a further 100,000 pairs of feet in 2013.
