Task 1 The author defines multicultural education as more than content.

She explains that it is an education that incorporates all types of ethnic, racial, and cultural aspects that are immersed into every detail of an educational setting. In the article, the author continues to discuss that the aim and method of such an education is that it allows every child the opportunity to succeed and prepares students to live in a democratic society. All in all, I wholeheartedly agree with the author. If children receive multicultural education at an early age, they will gain a sense of the world beyond their daily life. This type of education promotes respect for all types of individuals and prepares children for their future endeavors. Task 3 1. From the article read, I believe that the Preamble of the NEAs Code of Ethics is still very much applicable in the 21st century. Based upon my own experiences of being in the school system, however, I do not believe that the teaching profession has faithfully observed this highly important Preamble of ethics. For instance, even though the NEA guarantees that educators will provide all students with an equal educational opportunity, this concept was not presented to me. As a student with ADHD, I took longer to understand certain concepts and had difficulty getting my ideas into words. Instead of providing me with the additional accommodations that I needed to succeed at an equal level in school, my elementary teachers did not find that it was fair as I would be the only student receiving such privileges. However, once I got into college and IDEA came into effect, every educator I have been in contact with has all ensured that I was presented with an equal opportunity education.

2. Throughout my time in an educational setting, I have seen countless examples of how teachers have practiced various ethical principles. For example, at the school where I am employed at, there is one particular student who gets rather nervous upon answering questions on the spot. As I know the teacher, she discussed with me that she has a system worked out with the student where she pats him on the shoulder and as a result he knows he will be answering a question from the previous assignment within the next five minutes. A different example, which focuses on the varying points of view the students have, comes from personal experience. At a field experience, I witnessed a teacher ask her students to draw the inside of a train. As each child came up with different creations involving the same train, she did not judge the students on how accurate the drawing was.

3. Throughout my time in varying educational settings, I have learned and witnessed several teachers who show outstanding commitment to the profession. One example from personal experience dealt with how an educator has not misrepresented his use of professional qualifications. In the position where I work, there are a certain amount of qualifications a person needs to obtain in order to receive employment. When a coworker was applying for a teaching job within the school system, they did not promote false qualifications in order to advance their career, because they would have received the job on false pretenses. Another example would be on account of accepting gratuity to influence professional gain. One night, a parent was late to pick up a student, and offered me money so that I would not mark the student as late. I

did not accept this gift, and instead proceeded to do my job just as I was supposed to.

4. After reviewing AFTs Code of Ethics, the NEA's Codes of Ethics, and the Licensure code of professional conduct for Ohio educators, it is apparent that all three regard an educators conduct with students, as well the teaching profession in general, as highly important ethical principles. However, the Licensure code of professional conduct for Ohio educators goes into very specific details concerning the subject, while the AFT and NEA only give short, general ideas about the various philosophies promoted. The ethical commitment to the public and district appears to only exist in the AFT, without receiving any sort of mention in the other two documents. While it is obvious that the teacher has to uphold the standards presented in the three documents, it is not until the Licensure code of professional conduct for Ohio educators which actually mentions the disciplinary process that will be enforced upon noncompliance of the standards stated. I believe that these three documents allow for educators of all kinds to uphold a background that is similar to my beliefs. I believe that all teachers should hope to promote a lifelong love of learning and the belief that each student has an unlimited amount of potential, and this belief is listed upon all three documents. Every code of ethics that was presented reflects that students have the right to a proper education and it is up to that teacher to enforce that belief through any means necessary. Additionally, I have noticed that as the ethical codes age, the more in detail the codes actually are. It is very traumatizing to know that more standards are being put into

account, as a result of some teacher going unpunished because an improper behavior was not mentioned on the list.
