nce upon a time there was a little red hen. She lived with a pig, a duck and a cat.

"Who will help me to make the flour into bread?" asked the little red hen. "Not I," grunted the pig from his muddy patch in the garden. "Not I," quacked the duck from her pond. "Not I," purred the cat from his place in the sun. "Very well," said the little red hen. "I shall make the bread myself." She went into her neat little kitchen. She mixed the flour into dough. She kneaded the dough and put it into the oven to bake. Soon there was a lovely smell of hot fresh bread. It filled all the corners of the house and wafted out into the garden. The pig came into the kitchen from his muddy patch in the garden, the duck came in from the pond and the cat left his place in the sun. When the little red hen opened the oven door the dough had risen up and had turned into the nicest, most delicious looking loaf of bread any of them had seen. "Who is going to eat this bread?" asked the little red hen.

They all lived in a pretty little house which the little red hen liked to keep clean and tidy. The little red hen worked hard at her jobs all day. The others never helped. Although they said they meant to, they were all far too lazy. The pig liked to grunt in the mud outside, the duck used to swim in the pond all day, and the cat enjoyed lying in the sun, purring. One day the little red hen was working in the garden when she found a grain of corn. "Who will plant this grain of corn?" she asked. "Not I," grunted the pig from his muddy patch in the garden. "Not I," quacked the duck from her pond. "Not I," purred the cat from his place in the sun. So the little red hen went to look for a nice bit of earth, scratched it with her feet and planted the grain of corn. During the summer the grain of corn grew. First it grew into a tall green stalk, then it ripened in the sun until it had turned a lovely golden color. The little red hen saw that the corn was ready for cutting. "Who will help me cut the corn?" asked the little red hen. "Not I," grunted the pig from his muddy patch in the garden. "Not I," quacked the duck from her pond. "Not I," purred the cat from his place in the sun. "Very well then, I will cut it myself," said the little red hen. Carefully she cut the stalk and took out all the grains of corn from the husks. "Who will take the corn to the mill, so that it can be ground into flour?" asked the little red hen. "Not I," grunted the pig from his muddy patch in the garden. "Not I," quacked the duck from her pond. "Not I," purred the cat from his place in the sun. So the little red hen took the corn to the mill herself, and asked the miller if he would be so kind as to grind it into flour. In time the miller sent a little bag of flour down to the house where the little red hen lived with the pig and the duck and the cat.

"I will," grunted the pig. "I will," quacked the duck. "I will," purred the cat. "Oh no, you won't," said the little red hen. "I planted the seed, I cut the corn, I took it to the mill to be made into flour, and I made the bread, all by myself. I shall now eat the loaf all by myself." The pig, the duck and the cat all stood and watched as the little red hen ate the loaf all by herself. It was delicious and she enjoyed it, right to the very last crumb. Jesus Christ said "I have not come to be served but to serve." He also said, "the harvest is ripe but the workers are few." Oh what a lesson to be learned by the Little Red Hen. God has invited us to partner with Him in His search and rescue mission here on earth. Let's not have an excuse when it comes to doing our part!

Americas Last Chance

By Paul Casteel
hroughout history, every great nation or power before us has either totally fallen or has been reduced to just another country. Its hard for Americans to think of our great United States, the greatest power in the 20th century, falling from our rank as the most powerful nation in the world to being just another country, or worse. But its possible and highly likely. Almost every American today cannot remember when there was even a question whether we were the greatest, most powerful nation that has ever existed. Our forefathers and some of you have proven the greatness of this country many times. But no-one can deny that things are changing. We are no longer a nation respected by almost every other country in the world. We are hated, despised, and ridiculed by many people even those that we have aided not only in the past, but currently. Even worse WE HAVE LOST GODS FAVOR He cannot continue to favor a nation that has drifted so far from Godly principles. Biblical history shows this to be true. We are quickly headed to a disaster of our own making. Since WW II, we have allowed our laws, policies, and morals to decay to a point that a righteous God must turn His back on us. He cannot condone what is taking place in America today. Some of our greatest enemies of the past predicted that we would fall from within. And its happening right now not maybe not in the future BUT NOW! God is no longer a part of our government or schools. He may not even have much presence in some churches or religious organizations. Even when the name God is used or there is a public prayer, its often only a formality or part of a ritual and very often used in vain. This is not a political message. All political parties, all churches, and (at least almost) every American must accept a part of the blame. Most of us have allowed - if not contributed to - our own moral decay. I dont believe presidential candidate, congress, any politician, any policy maker, or any judge can do anything to turn our country around now. We have gone too far. Its too late for human hands to make a difference. Anything man tries to do in his own power will fail. At this point, anything we try to do to make a dramatic change in our future would probably be against some law that we now have in place that was designed to make this a better country. Something dramatic must take place. And it can only come from God. Lets take our eyes off the politicians and stop finger-pointing. That will only divert attention from whats important at this critical stage of American history and it will accomplish exactly NOTHING! We dont want to go down in the history books as another nation that fell this time from within. God said: If My people who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. II Chronicles 7:14 KJV Thats powerful. But with God, all things are possible. Can anyone doubt that America is a land of wicked ways and filled with sin? But God says that if we Christians will humble ourselves and seek His face, He will forgive us and heal our land. I am not an alarmist or an activist of any kind. I have never done anything like this and will probably be mocked and sneered at as a crackpot. For those of you who dont know me, Im a born again Christian, a sinner saved by grace.

It doesnt matter what church I attend and I dont pretend to be a saint or great spiritual person. I believe that God gave me the urgent desire as I was lying awake a couple of nights ago to share this with all who will listen. I dont have a following that I can use to start a great revival. But it is time that we as Christians throughout America join together and call on the only true God that exists and that can save our once great nation. Only when we admit that we are helpless and can rely only on God to restore our country will we have a bright future maybe ANY future. We Christians must put aside all of our political differences. Denominations must all recognize that God is our source and pull together to restore our nation as the God fearing people we once were. We YOU are the only hope that America has. We are the only hope that our children and grandchildren have to live in the same kind of country that we have known in the not too distant past. I encourage each individual to begin fervently praying and calling on God to intervene and reverse the great tragedy that we have set in motion. I would ask each of you to share this with your pastors or other spiritual leaders and ask them to get your church body to pray together that we might be saved. To all spiritual leaders: I believe that this urgent need is greater than anything you can promote in your churches except the salvation of lost souls. Please encourage your people to pray and fast (if their physical condition will allow it) for our nation and our childrens future. We talk about our children being the first generation that may not be better off financially than their parents. But even worse would be that they didnt have the great nation that we have known to grow up in. Each generation for many years has seen a better, stronger nation. But thats about to change if we dont seek Gods face and seek forgiveness. How long should we pray and fast? ... The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16 KJV Effectual means to have power to accomplish something. Fervent means enthusiastic or intent on accomplishing something. An occasional quick prayer to God isnt going to turn our nation around. We must be committed to continue in prayer and supplication until we see God reverse the trend that we are on now. We as a nation must pray hard and long with faith believing that its not too late for God to perform a miracle and turn a wicked nation back to a God fearing nation. How long? As long as it takes. I would hope that the November election would be the turning point. But if that were to happen, the president whoever he may be would get the credit. I believe that it may take much longer. Weve slid a long way. It wont happen overnight. But we must be perseverant as we wait on the Lord. Be still and know that He is God. Then when God does save us, we must continue to pray for our nation and each other thanking Him for what He has done and asking that He will continue to work in us according to His plan for a great, Godly nation. I will pray that someone with great influence a Godly man with no personal baggage - will take this mission and go forward, bringing the whole nation together in prayer and fasting. But we must be united whether God appoints one man or not. I pray that no-one go off in his or her own way. Pray for a great leader to rise up and lead us in a joint petition to God that we might be saved. And pray hard and fast yourself if you can. May God bless you and this Country.

FILL THE FREEZER!

he purpose of The Storehouse is to help those who just dont have enough. We try to provide things such as soups, stews, canned vegetables, rice, beans, fruits, flour, sugar, pasta and ready made meals to supplement what is lacking. Our goal is to be a light to the community by sharing Gods love in a very practical way. The only requirement to receive assistance is to ask. We try to help our church families first, and then we go into the community. We had a successful summer food program and made some new friends by lending a helping hand to those who needed a little more than what they had. It was a very rewarding and enlightening experience. We had plenty of help doing the program and are excited about our upcoming fall give-a-way. Many times, people who have no food, have no transportation to get food. We also have delivered meals to those who have no possible way to come and pick up food. If you know someone in this situation, please pick up a bag of food and take it to them. You will not only be a blessing to them, but I guarantee that you will be blessed. You are the hands and feet of Jesus. We have Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up quickly and now are looking to FILL THE FREEZER! Meat and fish are the highest priced items to purchase. Many families who are on a fixed income just dont purchase a lot of meats or fish. We would like to help by filling the freezer in The Storehouse. We are looking for Turkeys, chicken, ground chuck or pork. Turkeys would be especially nice with Thanksgiving just around the corner. If you dont feel like doing the shopping, you can also make a donation to The Warehouse and indicate that it is for filling the freezer and we will do the shopping for you. There are many at Thanksgiving and Christmas that will not have a meal unless we give it to them. We need your help. Together we have made a tremendous difference in our community. Thank you for your participation, whether it has been by physically helping or making a donation. We are making a difference one family at a time.

ot very long ago, a movie came out dealing with a bucket list. I have been thinking about this idea for several days and wondering why we wait so long to work on our own bucket list. The other day, I was working at my table and a song by Tim McGraw came on called Live Like You Are Dying. As I was listening to the words of that song, I really began to question some things that we wait for special occasions to do or say. Within that song are the lyrics, I hope someday you will get the chance, to live like you are dying. It isnt very far that you have to look to find someone that has stared death in the face and are still here to tell us about it. In each instance, their outlook on life is much different than our own. We each have a bucket list of things that we are going to do on that special occasion. It might be eating on your fine china when grandpa comes for dinner. It might be that trip to London, Spain, Jamaica or Paris. It could be a bungee jump. Learning to SCUBA dive? Learning to play the piano? This list can go on and on and on and on but you get the point. We will make many plans to one day be able to do all of these things. We will scrimp and save for that day. I have seriously thought of all of these things. As I was in church Sunday, God asked me how many of my bucket list items had anything to do with what He wanted me to do. Did any of my items have anything to do with Gods will for my life? You see, Jesus actually did live like he was dying. He knew that He was sent to earth to die for us and He knew that He didnt have much time to spare. Think about this, He only had 33 years to fulfill his lifes work. Its no wonder He was always so busy about doing His fathers work. Obviously, my selfish bucket list items really had more to do with me and my family than it had to do with anything else in the world. So, here is the challenge. Find out what the bucket list is for your life in terms of what God would have you do. Plant a seed in a co-workers heart? Preach a message that God has given to you? Join a small group? Lead a small group? Chances are that you already know what it is. And the fact of the matter is that you dont know how long you have to work on your bucket list. So get to work and eat on your fine china tonight just because you can. Ill see you all out in the fields.

The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD will praise him - may your hearts live forever! Ps 22:26

his is a question I had to ask myself after reading one study about the detrimental effects of prolonged sitting in the Archives of Internal Medicine entitled, Sitting Time and All-Cause Mortality Risk in 222 497 Australian Adults. Several studies are showing that individuals who work standing or walking and perform no additional exercises had better health outcomes than those that lived sedentary lives but exercised 1 hour per day. Fitness trends come and go... we live in the era of P90x, Insanity and the Biggest Loser mentality, which are fueling our current exercise philosophies and are effective for some people. Yet, for the sedentary person, a different approach may be more effective. The safest way to increase our fitness and move from a sedentary life to an active life is to establish a base-line, assess where we currently are, and then, set a goal to increase our fitness level from that point. One viable way of accomplishing this is using a simple device called a pedometer. A pedometer counts steps. Some more advanced pedometers will calculate mileage and calories based on steps taken. How many steps should we take per day? According to the NCBI Medical Publication less than 5000 steps is considered a sedentary lifestyle; 5000 - 7499 is low active and 7600- 9999 is considered somewhat active; and more than 10000 steps is considered an active lifestyle. Highly active individual take at least 12,500 steps per day. Being alarmed at the outcome of this study, I decided to find my own baseline and determine what changes, if any, I needed to make. I considered myself fairly active. I discovered, when I work at my desk job without exercising, I average only 4000 steps. Wearing the pedometer has made me more aware of the need to take walk breaks throughout the day. I now set an alarm and every hour get up and walk around our office which is 50 steps. Since wearing my pedometer, I know that the circle around my neighborhood is 600 steps. If I get to the end of the day and I have not accumulated 10,000 steps, then I know exactly how many laps in the neighborhood I need to take to reach my goal. What should we look for in a pedometer? First, I bought two to use with my clients and family. The cheapest one, a GAIAM Beginner model, broke after one drop. Prior to its demise, I found it would constantly reset when accidentally touched. It cost $8.00 and comes with a CD, but I would not recommend it. The second pedometer, the GAIAM ADVANCED model, was a good unit, it did not break the first time it was dropped, nor did it continually reset. Unfortunately, it did not come with a strap, which means, it falls off in transit it is lost and requires replacement. My favorite pedometer, so far, is the OMRON Go Smart HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer. I like it because it doesnt have to be clipped to the waist, it can sit in a pocket. In conclusion, although our time spent in the gym or working out is a vital part of our life, the come-back of the pedometer gives us access to a positive tool that will help us assess how sedentary we really are and help us stay active throughout the day

It Is Exam Time
Q: What is it about the Nickel Mines Amish that seem particularly foreign to our modern world? a) They dont use electricity b) They dont drive cars c) They have forgiven their attacker A: The answer of course is (c) they have forgiven their attacker Charles Carl Roberts IV (October 2, 2006). orgiveness sounds like such a beautiful idea but when someone hurts you, and especially when it is someone who is very close or even a member of the family it sounds silly, a real stupid idea! In this world of modern thinking we find that there is an element of decent people who believe in, Aw, just forget it; let bygones be bygones; time changes all things. The only evil is to condemn any behavior that takes place between supposedly intelligent adults. Through the years I have even heard many professing believers speaking out of a feel good pseudo-religion, Oh, Ive forgiven Its not a big problem for me anymore! I am just going on with Jesus. That person couldnt help what he/she did. These people give empty forgiveness. In reality, they want to hold on to their cheap regrets that say Im sorry you hurt me, but Im not sorry enough to end this once and for all. Dr Phil says, What are the benefits you receive in keeping these feelings? There is always some type of pay off. In stead, they should be thinking of the consequences that they would experience in the future beyond the persons control, if they dont deal with the issue today. Many prefer emotional despair and bitterness, which allows them to wallow in self-pity. Exercise foresight and be on the watch to look [after one another], to see that no one falls back from and fails to secure Gods grace (His unmerited favor and spiritual blessing), in order that no root of resentment (rancor, bitterness or hatred) shoot for the and cause trouble and bitter torment, and the many become contaminated and defiled by it; (Hebrews 12:15 Amplified). Bitterness keeps alive unpleasant incidents. These incidents are reviewed repeatedly in a persons mind eventually becoming ingrained and as fresh and alive in the memory as if they just happened a few hours ago. The most trivial hurt or pain is not forgotten or forgiven. This becomes so hurtful that the person can no longer deal with it so he/she denies the importance of it and fluffs if off as a little thing. Self-pity is an inward emotion, the fruit of rejection, self-rejection and fear of rejection. Too often, the response is about personal anguish, remorse, feeling sorry, only taking some responsibility for every unfortunate situation, but not a God-centered, heart-deep contrition, repentance and forgiveness. Much, which is said and done, is a ploy, rather than a heartfelt change. Our souls must know deep within true sorrow for sin. To quote Martin Luther, Where there is forgiveness of sins, there is also life and salvation. He struggled against the false, dead Christian life, against mans self-righteous nature with which he dares to face a Holy God, which causes spiritual life to die within us. Luther preached of a Jesus who wants fellowship with a repentant and forgiving soul so that by it we may have access to his life! If we decline, God permits un-forgiveness to continue to operate into its entire manifestation.

The scripture teaches us that if we are hearers only and not doers of the word of God then we deceive ourselves and continue to walk in the rejected self-pity personality. I would like to bring to your attention first to James 1:26, If any one thinks himself to be religious piously observant of the external duties of his faith and does not bridle his tongue, but deludes his own heart, this persons religious service is worthless (futile, barren). This approach to forgiveness is a religious line of thinking (sounds good) with vain speech that deludes ones heart into nice and futile thoughts without healing. May I remind you these people never stop talking about their hurts. Demons do that but what good does it do them? Use your head! It is deception (having false reasoning) which is a condition caused by refusing to walk out (obey) the word of God. Putting a nice spin on it will not break the hold it has on you. Only through receiving forgiveness and giving forgiveness will you get to the real you. This religious game will give you an identity with rejection; the wall built is inner agony and a great struggle to be accepted and to accept God. Experiences covered up will always taint and falsely color the way we see ourselves and respond to those around us and most of all to God. Without a clear spirit (the spirit is the part of man which has the ability to grasp and perceive divine things) it practically impossible to live a Christian life style. But obey the message; be doers of the Word, and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth]. For if, any one only listens to the Word without obeying it and being a doer of it, he is like a man who looks careful at his [own] natural face in a mirror. For he thoughtfully observes himself, then goes off and promptly forgets what he was like. But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets, but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing in his life of obedience (James 1:22-25 Amplified).

Everyone has to face life and all of its complexities because it is part of everyday living. Get use to it, we cannot avoid the bends and twists in life that hurt us deeply. Some we fantasize and some are real. It makes no difference. We are told by society that we can control our destiny and manipulate the way people feel about us. Not true, we can only control how we respond!

The soul or psyche is the self-life the will, intellect (reasoning, imaginations) and emotions (1 Thessalonians. 5:23). All of these must come into conformity to the will of God through obeying the scriptures. The truth obeyed is the truth that will release the gift of forgiveness, which in turn will break the logjam. They want to pass forgiveness off as not that big of a deal, but they do not really understand the seriousness the scriptures give to the issue of forgiveness. To God it is very important and it really does matters! Mahatma Gandhi in the movie, Gandhi said, Only the strong forgive. What is true of individuals is true of nations. One cannot forgive too much. The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. Maybe, I can shed some more light on a confusing issue. Really, it is quite simple. Let us look at forgiveness from a divergent angle; forgiveness is so much more than we comprehend it to be so let us take a different approach to this what forgiveness is not.

Forgiveness is not a feeling, forgiveness is not pretending you werent hurt, forgiveness is not saying what the person did wasnt wrong, forgiveness is not forgetting, forgiveness is not relieving other people of their responsibility and forgiveness is not reconciliation. Lastly, forgiveness is not, in any sense being a doormat to anyone. The genuineness of godly people is that they express their pain and hurt to God not to fellow believers, nor in anger directed at the person who hurt them. Admitting that you are angry is the starting point to forgive. Would you believe that God already knows? Duh! Gods grace of repentance, which is a gift of the Holy Spirit, leads us into forgiveness. The more we forgive the more we are released to love, to be joyful, and live in peace for which every person is longing. This perception is freeing to all, who have always equate a holy person as the worlds doormat, letting any abuser get away with murder. What some have thought of as godliness were actually carnal habit patterns, fear of judgment, self-pity and emotional and mental illness -- not to mention innumerable physical ills. Forgiveness is quite the reverse; it is being whole in my total person and taking my place as a true person with many problems in the love of the Father, his goodness, compassion and care. There is no dark side of God. Those who walk with him taste forgiveness and the wounds of their souls are healed. They taste his love, joy, and exultation that all sinners receive who come to the Savior daily. They experience it as they see Jesus and listen to his blessed Word in their soul Everyone has to face life and all of its complexities because it part of everyday living. Get use to it, we cannot avoid the bends and twists in life that hurt us deeply. Some we fantasize and some are real. It makes no difference. We are told by society that we can control our destiny and manipulate the way people feel about us. Not true, we can only control how we respond! For the Amish people forgiveness is more than a good thing to do. It is the thing to do for it rewrites the future.
