Future for Nation Leadership and Literacy Camp

in collaboration with the nations schools and programs for the deaf, the NLLC operates as traveling camp program. The ultimate goal is to educate the whole deaf child through the activities that develop the whole child based on the SPICE philosophy and methodology. Moving the program to various locations allows us to broaden exposure to deaf youth across the country.

A welcome letter from C.E.O.

June 20, 2012 Dear Friends, It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the TENTH Annual CSD Golf Classic! On behalf of the planning committee, I would like to thank each of you for participating in this very special fundraising event and we wish each of you the best of luck in todays tournament. A special thanks goes to those who have worked so hard throughout the past two months to arrange this golfing event. Their efforts will undoubtedly make a difference not only for the event itself, but also for the children who will ultimately benefit from the funds this event will provide towards camp scholarships and program expenses as well as other youth activities throughout the year. In addition, and maybe more importantly, I would like to thank all of our generous sponsors, donors and supporters this year both local and national for participating in a fun day of golf and for helping us promote the advancement of deaf and hard of hearing youth nationwide. For those of you who have never before been exposed to CSD, one of the nations largest nonprofit telecommunications and human service providers for deaf and hard of hearing people, I hope that you have a chance to learn more about our organization. We provide employment to nearly 2000 people, in different capacities and locations all across the country and each of them share a tremendous amount of passion, commitment and dedication to making a difference in the lives of 30 million Americans with varying degrees of hearing loss. Your participation here today will go a long way in helping us continue our efforts. We hope that you enjoy the tournament today and we also want to thank our host, Bakker Crossing Golf Course, for providing this venue complete with generous fairways, well-bunkered greens, a gently rolling track, big skies and, of course, the wide-open spaces of the Dakota priaire. We trust you will find your experience here today to be an enjoyable one and again, we thank you for supporting and joining us, on behalf of everyone at CSD! Sincerely, Benjamin J. Soukup President/Chief Executive Officer

Summer youth Programs are designed to enable deaf and hard of hearing youth to realize their fullest potential in the areas of social, physical, intellectual, communicative and emotional development. As result of attending camp, our young campers develop a support network of role models that will serve them well into adulthood. They also realize that they all are worthy human beings, each with their own destiny within society. Because our campers come from all over the country, their time together leads them to experiencing and sharing diverse backgrounds and varied upbringings. NLLC is a unique program. I serves as the schools textbook helper in the areas for which the academicaians do not have much time. These particular areas offer the activities that develop the real life skills so necessary for success in the workplace, higher education, community participation and family life.

We are proud to say that over the past decade, CSDs Golf Classics have raised over $200,000 to support more than 1000 campers attending our National Leadership and Literacy Camps (NLLC) and a wide variety of CSDs youth activities and programs at local, regional and national levels. This summer, CSD is hosting the NLLC at the New Mexico School for the Deaf in Santa Fe and we are expecting a full roster of campers, speakers, tours, events and unique learning experiences that help enrich the education of deaf and hard of hearing children from all across the country. We salute the sponsors, contributors, donors and friends of our Golf Classic fundraisers and all those who continue to participate year after year in making this event truly a classic experience. Thank you so much, from the staff of CSD and on behalf of the deaf children who benefit from your supports!
