Using Arena simulation package, develop a model of a simple serial two-process system.

Items arrive at the system with a mean time between arrivals of 10 minutes, with the first arrival at time 0. They are immediately sent to Process 1, which has a single resource with a mean service time of 9 minutes. Upon completion, they are sent to Process 2, which is identical to (but independent of) Process 1. Items depart the system upon completion of Process 2. The logical block diagram is shown in the following:

Arrivals

Process 1

Process 2

Depart

The Arena components to achieve the above logic should be: 1 Create component with name Client Arrival, 1 Assign component with the name Assign Arrive Time, 2 Process components with name Process 1 and Process 2 respectively, 1 Record component with name Record Time in System, and 1 Dispose component with name Client Departure. Performance measures of interest are the average numbers in queue at each process and the total time in system of items. Using a replication length of 10,000 minutes, make a complete run with the following specification: Run 1: exponential interarrival times with mean 10 minutes and constant service times with exact 9 minutes. Finally, you need to set the parameters for the run. To set the run parameters, you select the menu according to the following sequence: Run > Setup In the popup window, use the following data to set the parameters under the tab Replication Parameters: Number of Replications: 1 Statistics: checked, System: checked Warm-up Period: 0 Time Unites: minutes Replication Length: 10,000 Hours Per Day: 24 To help you, I give some component data in the following screen captures. You can use them as your guide while constructing your model:

Do the following to score the points: 1) (1 pt) Construct the correct flowchart diagram in Arena according to the requirements stated above. After done, do a screen capture in the space below: 2) (1 pt) Do a screen capture for run setup window (when the tab Replication Parameters is active) named Run Setup. You need to set the parameters first according to the above requirements. Then do the screen capture: 3) (1 pt) Run the simulation to completion. Then, do a screen capture: 4) (3 pts) Fill out the following table for the missing data using the data from the run. All the data in the following table are located at the Category Overview > under the Preview pane. Average number of clients in Process 1 queue Average number of clients in Process 2 queue The average total time a client spent in the system (To get the value for this item, you need to go down the directory tree: User Specified > Tally > Interval > Record

Time)
