Question one: write a 200 word paragraph on continued professional development in Nursing with 3-4 academic references.

Continued Professional Development is defined as the process of inculcating and acquiring knowledge and skills along with moral and ethical values after initial registration as a professional (Loretto, 1996). Continued Professional Development is an integral part of nursing profession as it enables nurses to maintain their competence and skills. It is essential component of health care services as it aids in improving the standard of practice. According to Neeraja (2008) Continued Professional Development is needed to provide safe and effective nursing care, to meet the health needs of population, for career advancement, to gain awareness about new knowledge and technologies, for acquiring specialized skills, and to inculcate evidence based nursing practice. Continued Professional Development can be achieved via joint efforts by individual nurse and their respective organization. The study by Maslin-Prothero (2005) identified that individuals motivation for Continued Professional Development depends on improving skills, knowledge, and professionalism of nursing. Another study by Livinch and Livinh (1999) indicated that motivation for learning is based on the gap between where the nurse is working professionally and where she/he wants to be. Gaps may be associated with personal crises, need for new knowledge/competence, learning for social purpose, and in quest of career advancement. Thus, Continued Professional Development is essential for nurses in order to improve their own competence which will eventually impact on the health status of population as a whole. Question four. Please provide 200 words on the topic of ''mixed methodology research", use 3 or 4 academic references. Answer: In the last couple of decades, researchers have shown significant inclination towards employing multiple methods, in order to achieve deeper understanding of diverse issues (Bryman and Bell, 2007). This method of conducting empirical studies is now being used widely after a long period of disregard, however it does not imply that issues connected to mixed methods have been resolved (Bazeley, 2002). It is common knowledge that gathering high quality data is extremely vital for legitimate and effective research; and in cases of exploratory research, it is essential to expand the boundaries of investigation and add certain elements of one method to some elements of other, in an organised and sequential manner. The need for this amalgamation mainly stems from the fact that various research methods address different aspects of the subject matter. Therefore, a proper combination of multiple methods provides a fuller picture of the issue, compared to what a single research method could provide. The integration of quantitative and qualitative methods is also referred to as multi-strategy research (Spratt et al, 2004). Mixed research methods compensate for the shortcomings of one method against the strengths of another. For instance, the mixed method approach provides the singular reality of quantitative approach as well as multiple realities of qualitative dominant. It combines the distance and impartiality of quantitative methods (unbiased) and constriction of qualitative methods (biased) to offer practical and more authentic results. Moreover, the mixed approach to research includes pluralistic approaches and joins the formal presentation style of quantitative dominant with the informal literary style of quantitative methods to generate outcomes that are more problem centred, realistic and practice oriented (Galt, 2009, p.12).
