Industrial Pressure Gauges
H.Guru South 'Indus trial Pressure Gauges' are suitable for all general industrial applications. They are robust in their construction and are ideal for field applications. These gauges come with bourdon tube sensing elements. They have guaranteed initial accuracy and repeatability. The accuracy is maintained longer, a result of a sound design and fabrication of all the critical components, in house. The design incorporates a blow out disc in order to maintain safety. These gauges are available with material and

calibration certificates. Performance is as per IS 36241987. They are available in a variety of casing options to suite most environments and applications. Special materials of construction are also available.
Pressure gauges for defence applications are also available with added design features, to withstand high grade of shock and vibrati on. These specific instruments are successfully type tested as per requirements of Indian Naval standard, DME 405.

Construction
The Bourdo n Tube (2), is Pul se TIG welded to the Block (1). The Bourdon End is in-turn connected to the movement assembly through the S Link (4). The two end of this link form two joints one at the Bourdon End Joint (3), and the other at the Sector Slo t Joint (5). These joints have restricted degree of freedo m, and are free only for rotary motion. It is important that these joints have minimal to no relative linear motion with the adjoining component. This constitutes the primary internal construction of the pressure gauge.
7. Casing
The internal assembly as detailed above is mounted on to the casing (7), by means of clamp screws located at the rear of the instrument.

Operating Principle:
HGuruSouth
The bourdon type pressure gauge indicates pressure by translati ng the linear deflection of the bourdon tube into a circular motion of a pinion on which the pointer is located. This is done by the movement assembly, which constitutes of a sector and pinion mechanism.
When the process fluid enters the bourdon under pressure, it exerts a force on the inner wall of the bourdon tube, thereby straightening the tube. This straightening tendency causes linear deflection of the end of the bourdon tube. This linear deflection is in turn trans mitted to the sector through the li nk. The sector, which is pivoted on the movement assembly, has a geared engagement with the pinion. This design helps to translate linear into circular motion and also to magnify it. As the sector makes the pinion rotate about its axis, it causes the pointer, which is mounted on the pinion, to rotate, and indicate the pressure over a circular dial.
The degree of magnification of the translated motion can be adjusted by moving the link sector slot joint position. This is done by sliding the sector screw, to certain position in the secto r slot, and fastening the screw, at that position. Moving the sector towards the casing decreases the magnification, and moving towards the center increases the magnification.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:
The instrument should be be used between 30% and 60% of its range. Max. possible pressure should not exceed the instruments range. Compatibility of the wetted parts with the process fluid to be verified. Monel wetted parts are suited for sea water application. General instruments should NOT BE U SED oxygen and acytelene service. Instruments should always be mounted vertically. DO NOT use the head of the instrument to fasten or loosen the instrument. Appropriate spanners and tools must be used for this purpose. Pressure should be applied gradually through appropriate valves. Sudden surge in pres sure may damage the instrument. Please ensure that the blow disc is in place after installation. Please ensure that the impulse tubing carrying the process fluid to the instrument should be flushed with the process media.
Hydraulic lines must be evacuated to remove traces of air, to avoid cavitation. Panel and surface mounted instruments are to be mounted such that stresses at the tubing and joints are minimized.

HGuruSouth
The instrument must be connected either through a siphon or through i mpulse tubing to reduce the temperature of the process fluid to within the acceptable limits for the subject instrument.
Mounting and installation of the i nstrument must be made in such a way such that the stresses on the instrument mounts, and the tubing joints are minimum.
Maintenance: Instruments Must Be Calibrated At Regular Intervals (Recommended Every 6 to 9 Months For General Use) Calibration Is Recommended At Manufacturers Facility or At A Certified Calibration Lab On Site Verification May Be Performed Only By Qualified Staff Instrument Should Be Subjected To 20 to 25, 10% Over Load Cycles While Calibration / Verification Instrument Connection To Be Checked For Wear Out At The Time Of Calibration / Verification Blow Disc Should Be Intact After Re-Installation The Wetted Parts Of The I nstruments Must B e Cleaned With Thinner / CTC And Fully Dried Prior To Reinstallation
If The Instrument Is In Use For More Than 3 Years At Site .. A Check At The Manufacturers Faci lity Is Recommended Instruments intended for long term preservation must be stored in air-tight plastic pouches with sil icon gel sachets. Thi s is in turn to be placed in a box with suitable cushioning
Instruments being used after long preservation must ideally be calibrated prior to use.

SCHEMATIC OF CALIBRATION SETUP

MANIFOLD
ENTRY VALVE
EXIT VALVE
Calibration Setup:
The schematic above illustrates a typical calibration setup. The pressure source supplies a certain non corrosive / non explosive fluid, such as air or nitrogen, at the required pressure. The pressure is applied within a manifold, to which two instruments are fixed one a reference instrument (RI), and the other, is the pressure gauge (PG) being calibrated. Two valves, the entry and exit valves are used to control the flow of the pressurized fluid into and out of the manifold, thereby increasing or decreasing the manifold pressure. Generally the reference instrument should be at-least four times more accurate than the pressure gauge being calibrated. T hus, to calibrate a pressure gauge of +/- 1% FSD accuracy, the accuracy o f the reference instrument must be at-least +/- 0.25% FSD (Same range as PG). Both instruments should be mounted at the same vertical elevation It is important that the calibration of the PG be checked against the RI at a minimum of 5 points included within the scale. The error is to be mapped on both, increasing pressure cycle and decreasing pressure cycle. THE ERROR SHOULD ALWAYS BE NOTED ON THE REFERENCE INSTRUMENT, AFTER MAINTAINING THE PG AT THE EXACT POINT AT WHICH THE CALIBRATION IS BEING CHECKED. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF VACUUM INSTRUMENTS OR VACUUM PART OF COMPOUND SCALES ARE TO BE CHECKED, THEN THE PRESSURE SOURCE IS TO BE REPLACED BY A VACUUM PUMP.
