may find yourselves spending more time together than you can handle. 8. Solve roommate problems with your roommate, not your Mom. Remember, you'll be living with this person for at least a semester, so whatever problems you're having must be hashed out between the two of you. Although your mother may have great parental advice, nothing will get solved if you don't talk to your roomie. 9. Enforce a policy of knocking before (not while) opening the door and entering the room. 10. Listen and talk to each other (any subject will do, but avoid making a therapist out of the other). 11. Have weekly meetings to discuss roommate concerns and issues. This way, problems won't linger on, causing feuds and stress. 12. Accept that burnout happens -even to wonderful roommates -but that's what summer break is for. Time away from one another, plus a little bit of maturity, can work magic in a relationship.

1.

If you're a light sleeper, buy earplugs. Don't waste time wishing your roommate would fall comatose whenever you choose to sleep.

2. If you wake up earlier than your roommate, do not hit the snooze alarm six times before you get up, and do not sing, talk, sneeze, or make a lot of noise getting ready. If you have to do loud things, like blow-dry your hair, head to another room, instead. 3. Do not use your roommate's belongings without permission. And, if your roomie lets you borrow clothing, wash it before you return it! 4. If you don't want to share clothes, cars, or food, let your roommate know. Don't worry about offending him or her, and make sure you give back the same respect you are demanding. 5. Don't make a habit of cleaning up after your roommate. Doing it occasionally is a nice gesture. Doing it regularly will spoil your roommate. 6. Set up cleaning schedules at the beginning of the year, and follow them! 7. Contrary to what you might have been told in high school, friends can make good roommates. Some friends can also make horrible roommates, but this probably depends more on your personalities than your friendship. Just keep in mind that living with a friend will be a challenge, since you

A Brief History of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Every October, there is an explosion of pink ribbons as the nation and the international community honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Since its inception, the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) organization has been vigorously promoting educational events and programs to encourage and empower women to take control of their own breast health by practicing regular self-breast examinations, getting mammograms as recommended, scheduling regular visits with their physician for breast care, following any prescribed Although October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, breast cancer does not confine itself to a 31-day period: it is a relentless, daily reality for millions of women and their families. Likewise, the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month organization conducts business year-round. Anyone can visit the NBCAM website at any time for updated information on breast cancer, resources, and events related to breast cancer awareness.

Lots of people ride bikes for lots of different reasons. Here are the top five reasons why you should be out there too..
1. For Your Body Riding a bike offers many health benefits. Here are just a few: increased cardiovascular fitness increased strength increased balance and flexibility increased endurance and stamina increased calories burned 2. For Your State of Mind Riding a bike is a proven stress releaser. Regardless of if you are riding purely for Plus, being out on your bike is just flat-out fun. The more time you spend on two wheels, the harder it is to take yourself too seriously. 3. For Your Community Being out on your bike is good for the people around you as well. You are able to go the places you want to go and yet put one less car on the road. You dont bring with you the noise that a car generates and are actually able to interaction with people as you move. From my bike I can wave to a neighbor, say hi to a kid, smell someones dinner cooking and be a warm and friendly human presence on the streets. Also, not insignificant: operating a bicycling does not harm the environment. There is no polluting exhaust released, no oil or gas consumed. And the energy and materials used to manufacture one automobile could be used to created a hundred bikes. 4. For Convenience There is an undeniable convenience factor youll discover when riding a bike. Front row parking spaces are guaranteed no matter where you go. Traffic jams are also irrelevant. Though cars will certainly make better time on long trips, youll find for many short trips or through heavy traffic, you can travel just as fast or faster on your bike. Have you ever been to a massive festival or concert in a park somewhere, the type of event that draws so many people that just getting there is a problem? Going in on a bike is a perfect solution. Zip in, zip out. You dont have to get there hours early to get a parking spot or else face parking miles away from the event. And you wont have to wait hours in traffic to get out once its over. 5. For Your Pocketbook It costs between 20 and 30 cents per mile to operate a car, depending on the vehicle. This is based on expenses like gas, oil, maintenance, etc., that go up when you drive more. This figure doesnt include the hidden costs of vehicle ownership like depreciation, taxes, and insurance. These factors make the actual per mile cost to operate a car much higher.
