Association for Learning Intervention and Support (A.L.I.S.

) is a non-prot (501C3 Approved) organization dedicated to making the difference for learning challenged children and their families. A.L.I.S. provides comprehensive intervention, support and information by establishing a special scholarship fund for learning challenged children with many symptoms and diagnosis including but not limited to dyslexia, autism spectrum, Attention Decit, Down Syndrome, Learning Disabled.

There are currently 15 children on the waiting list. We are working to save these children from falling through the cracks.

Alex has struggled to learn to read for the majority of his young life. His goal is to be a reman, yet he is not yet able to pass the entrance exam. He is enrolled in the public school, but sees little chance of gaining a diploma. Without intensive reading intervention life will be a difcult road for Alex. SOPHIA" 10

To say early childhood for Sophia was a challenge would be a tremendous understatement. Her parents made some terrible choices and she is now being raised by her grandmother. Sophia struggles with all aspects of learning. Her primary difculty is attention and working memory. BRENT" 6

Addressing learning challenges begins with understanding the root cause of these issues. Many children are attending schools or enjoying home schooling. However, these same children are having difculty reaching their potential. Something is hindering their progress and uncovering this challenge is often a difcult task. In many cases it takes a team to explore various needs. For example, educators are trained to discover challenges related to cognition. They have a tendency to focus on academic tasks and higher order thinking skills. While an occupational therapist will often observe a child for body related challenges. Many times a child's success

is found in both professional areas. There is an old expression, "It takes a village to raise a child." This concept also holds true when considering addressing areas of difculty. It takes a team of professionals, willing to communicate openly about specic needs. It takes a team to uncover the root causes and work in a unied manner for maximum success.

Brent has had a difcult life in his early years. Raised by a single mom after she found the strength to leave Brent is doing the best he can. He needs occupational therapy and educational therapy. JULIO 19

Julio and his family have done everything right. He has received extra assistance from the public school. He works very hard to be the best student he can. His parents work with him for 3-4 hours every night. Yet Julio is continuing to battle his dyslexia. Julio needs an intensive reading intervention and a team of experts to assist the parents and schools.
