Faithful Citizenship Quote

"Virtual reality and genetic science may give us the illusion of power, but we are not gods. We are not our own, or anyone else's, creator. Nor, for our own safety, should we ever seek to be. Even parents, entrusted with a special guardianship over new life, do not "own" their children any more than one adult can own another. And therein lies our only security. No one but the Creator is the sovereign of basic human rights -- beginning with the right to life" (US Bishops, Living the Gospel of Life, 1998, n. 15). To reserve the Parish Basement or other St. Marys facility, please contact Fr. Cory or Lana at the Parish Office.

Mass Intentions
As Catholics, we have a long tradition of having Masses celebrated for those we wish to offer up in prayer. The Mass is the ultimate form of prayer, and each Mass is celebrated for an intention. Please consider having Masses celebrated for family and friends on special occasions and anniversaries, as well as those who are in need of prayers. Masses are also encouraged in memory of those loved ones who have died, especially on the anniversaries of their deaths. Contact Fr. Cory for more information!

Stewardship and Development

Stewardship Thought: St. James, in the Second Reading, condemns the wealthy because they have cheated their laborers of wages and selfishly stored up treasures and wanton luxury on earth. Wealth in itself is not bad. But we, as Christian stewards belonging to Christ, acknowledge that all things, including financial resources, come from God. Moses, in the Book of Numbers, and Jesus, in St. Marks Gospel, both teach us how blessed it is to belong to Christ. In a spirit of thanksgiving and gratitude, we return a portion of these monetary gifts back to the Lord through our parish offertory, Care and Share, and other worthy causes. Development Thought: Do you ever have the urge to give more to the Church, but then are stopped short of doing so, because you wonder how well your gift will be used? How it will be accounted for, invested, if it will be used for what you intend? If so, you are not alone. God gave us each a desire to give. And some of us want to give more robustly. So, please, ASK those questions so that you can knock down that barrier between your desire to give (which comes from the Lord) and making it happen. Your questions will be answered honestly. Call the Office of Stewardship and Development at 800-332-9998, ext. 120. God bless you always!

Opening Masses for Year of Faith

With Apostolic Letter of Pope Benedict XVI on October 11, 2011, Porta Fidei, the Pope declared a Year of Faith beginning on October 11th and concluding with the Feast of Christ the King on November 24, 2013. The Year of Faith coincides with the anniversaries of two great events that have marked the life of the Church in our time: the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary of the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Diocese of Great Falls-Billings will participate in the opening of the Year of Faith with the celebration of Mass in each of the five Vicariates of the Diocese. Bishop Warfel will celebrate Mass on October 11 @ 7:00 PM at St. Patricks Co-cathedral in Billings; October 12 @ 7:00 PM at St. Anns Cathedral in Great Falls; October 13 @ 6:00 PM at Sacred Heart Parish in Miles City; October 14 @ 9:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Parish in Wolf Point; October 15 @ 7:00 PM at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish in Havre. The faithful in all the parishes within each Vicariate are invited to participate in these Masses. I want to encourage everyone to join in a pilgrimage to Havre on Monday, October 15th, to start this great Year of Faith! This upcoming Year will be a powerful opportunity to grow closer to Christ through our Faith. Watch for more info coming soon! - Fr. Cory

We have a tentatively probable opportunity of having a young man come to speak to our students and parish. Gabe Murfitt gave a Skype talk to our SEARCH kids last year and it was amazing. Gabe was born with a unique body. He would say, everyone has a unique body but his is just a little more unusual. He has shorter arms, almost none, and his legs are crooked , so he is unable to walk. Gabe with the help of his best friend, Ruthie, a beautiful black Lab, travel around and give talks to schools, churches, and where ever they can. He took the word CLEAR to be the headline message for his book, My Message is C.L.E.A.R. CCourage LLeadership that is encouraging and compassionate EEndurance in hard times. AAttitude that enables you to achieve your goals. RRespect for others and yourself He is a remarkable gift from God to all of us to help us to grow as people of faith and character.

Watch for the for a sure date which COULD be October 10th. Thanks to everyone for attending our Peace Service. You kids were all so helpful in Peeling candles before and taking part during! A special thanks to Cathy Salsbery for taking care of the special music and Fr. for setting up the wonderful speaker system. And thanks to the parish for your support!!! @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
