Old Fashioned Values

establish daily family prayer. That daily family prayer says that Jesus is the center of their family life. When they are blessed, they sing their gratitude around Jesus. When they are in trouble, they kneel at the foot of the cross. When they are fighting, they look at His kindness, His forgiveness, and His selflessness as an example of what they should do. When you marry someone, youre not looking for an ideal partner. Youre looking for a cross. Yes, my wife is my cross. Because loving her isnt convenient. If I wanted to remain comfortable, I shouldnt have gotten married. But I dont want to remain comfortable. I want to remain committed. Yes, she is my cross. My beautiful, lovely, glorious cross. Because she has brought me closer to God and enlarged my capacity to love. May your dreams come true,

A Catholic Prayer Meeting of the Light of Jesus Family

I READ a beautiful article by Jenn Giroux. She said that in the small town of Siroki- Brijeg in Croatia (Population: 13,000), not one single divorce has been recorded. Why? I believe its because the old fashioned values are still part of their life and culture. (These old fashioned values are what I will later explain in my talk as Worship or Reverence for God.) And a powerful expression of these old fashioned values is a beautiful twist in their matrimonial ritual. (If your wedding is near, read carefully. You may want to include this for your wedding rites.) In our present wedding ceremony, the priest says at the end of the rites, You may kiss the bride. But in the town of Siroki-Brijeg, the priest says, You may kiss the cross. And both of them kiss Jesus in a crucifix. Let me backtrack a bit to the start of the ceremony. When the bride and groom enter the church, they already carry a crucifix. The first thing the priest does is to bless it. And as the man and the woman say their vows, they are holding on the crosswith the priests stole draped on top of their hands (Note: the stole is the long piece of cloth around the priests neck) After the vows are said, the couple wont kiss each other. They will kiss the cross. The newlywed couple will then bring home the crucifix and set it on the family altar. Around it, they will

Life is all about relationships! We need our relationship with God. God completes us. With God, we have everything we need. (Ps.23). However, this is what I believe. GOD completes us, yet He will not fill our need for human relationships. The vacuum in every heart can be filled by God, even the vacuum for human relationships. But I strongly believe that HE will not fill that space completely (HE created Eve out of Adams rib to complete his need for human relations), as HE desires each of HIS creation to work (out) and build (and re-build) their relationships with each other. No man is an island. We cannot live by ourselves. We need human like us, especially the person(s) He has prepared for usin marriage and family relationships. Good marriages are no accident. Most people fall in love and spend more time on their wedding plans than preparing for one of the most challenging and fulfilling relationships theyll ever have with another

human being. Many couples come to our counseling sessions and want us to fix them. They want a better, more fun-filled, and intimate marriage, but they dont know how to get it. The most common and most fundamental thing these couples are lacking is the knowledge that love is a decision. RememberGod invented marriage! They say that marriages are made in heaven (Amen), but God leaves the maintenance to men. Amen! Here are six principles to staying in love (from Gary Smalley): 1. Honor God and honor your spouse 2. Learn the art of touchingtenderly 3. Keep courtship alive in your marriage 4. Re-open a heart closed by anger 5. Buildingor rebuildingtrust in a relationship 6. Become best friends with your family These six principles are the keys to love. Love isnt an emotion, a feeling, or a happenstance. Love is a decision and a commitment. If you want to wake upw

As the son jumped into the lake, the father saw an alligator also jumped quickly to attack his son. Without hesitation, he leaped into the lake and struggle with the alligator and won, but his left arm was badly damaged and had to be cut. A friend visited him and honored him: You lost your left arm because of your love for your son. He replied: I did not lose it, I GAVE it! We live to give. We will give anything for Love.
