Delivering community services for young people with eating disorders

Overview of the Project


The project aimed to deliver a dedicated eating disorder service for children and young people up to the age of 18 within an NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). The project aimed to transform an existing virtual eating disorders service to a dedicated team by attracting more resources and transforming the way interventions are delivered to be more evidence based and effective.

Progress/Outcomes
When it is successful we will have achieved the provision of a dedicated eating disorders service with sustainable funding which works well to engage young people and families. There will be a lower rate of hospital admission and re-admission, young will people recover and the team will have an excellent local and regional reputation. The service will be research led and driven and work in partnership with service users and carers and the voluntary sector.
