Lesson Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to: 1. read and understand the poem given by doing appropriate action when reading aloud in group. 2. construct simple sentences related to their own invention. For example: Our watch has three special lamps. 3. add appropriate adjectives into sentences. For example: I have invented a big red digital watch. 4. construct one or two compound sentences in a short paragraph. For example: I have invented a special watch. It is an electronic watch with three beautiful stripes. 5. talk about things that they created by themselves. 6. talk about the pictures given by the teacher. For example: I have a grandfather clock at home.

Stage Set Induction (5 Minutes)

Activity Recognizing different type of clocks and watches.

Procedures 1. Teacher pastes pictures of mantel clock, steeple clock and pocket watch. 2. Teacher asks student the types of clock paste in front. 3. Teacher discuss with the students about the clocks and watches they know.

Rationale - to get students into the topic

Presentation (15 Minutes)

Reading the poem.

1. Teacher pastes the poem in front of the classroom 2. Teacher reads the poem first. 3. Teacher reads the poem with the students. 4. Teacher discusses the meaning of the poem with the students. 5. Students are divided into groups. 6. In groups, students come out with their own style of presentation in reading the poem. 7. Each group has to present the poem in front of the classroom.

Introducing the poem. Understand the poem by doing action.

Practice (20 minutes)

Invent your own clock/watch.

1. Teacher shows a picture of a wrist watch. 2. Teacher tells the student that it is the watch the teacher invented. 3. Teacher describe the watch by constructing sentences with the students and write it in front of the classroom. 4. Teacher uses adjectives to further describe the watch. 5. Teacher asks student to create their own watch or clock. 6. Students have to write at least 5 sentences (short paragraph) to describe their watch/clock.

Practise on writing simple and compound sentences as well as writing a short descriptive paragraph.

Production (15 Minutes)

1. Student presents their invention in front of the classroom. 2. Other students have to comment about their friends invention. 3. Teacher demonstrates how to give good comment to the students.

Give students opportunity to present their work. Encourage student to give good comment to each others work.

Closure (5 Minutes)

1. Students read the poem again with action.

Re-emphasize the poem as the base for this lesson.
