This card provides a quick reference to install and configure BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Reporting. For detailed installation instructions, see the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Reporting Installation, Configuration, and User Guide. You must have a basic working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows or Oracle Solaris environment and Oracle Database.
Required components
BMC ProactiveNet server version 8.6.02 Oracle Database 11g R2 BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Reporting 8.6.02 SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3 You can install it using the version and license provided by BMC on the EPD page. BMC recommends to install all these components on different computers.

The fullyQualifiedHostName is the full name of the computer where you have installed BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine. Reload the mcell.dir file using the following command:
mcontrol -n cellName reload dir
In the Administration View of the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management, edit the propagation policy for All_Events so that it specifies the name of the computer where you have installed BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine in the Propagate to One Of list. made in the hosts file (for Solaris, it is at /etc; and for Windows, it is at \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\drivers\etc).

For Windows, BMCProactiveNetReportEngineInstallDir\bin\reportsCLI For Solaris, BMCProactiveNetReportEngineInstallDir/bin/ reportsCLI 11 Run the following command:
cell_config add -name cellName -hn hostName -p 1828 -k mc -e production
The hostName is the name of the computer on which the BMC ProactiveNet cell is installed.
12 If you have installed Oracle Database and SAP
where userName is the name of the new database user that you want to create. To install BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine, run ReportEngine8.6_b<buildnumber>.exe (Windows) or sh ReportEngine8.6_b<buildnumber>.bin command (Solaris). The files are located in the \Reports\ReportEngine folder. 6 Follow the instructions on the wizard pages. You need to enter the following information: operations that you want to perform including installing BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine and importing the latest universe and reports database connection information such as the database computer name, default port number 1521, and account details of the user that you created using the script in step 4. local host timezone directory where you want to install the product authentication details to connect to the computer on which you have installed SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise 7 Add the BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine gateway entry to the

BusinessObjects on different computers, install the Oracle Database client on the computer where you have installed SAP BusinessObjects. Otherwise, you need not install it. 13 If you have installed the Oracle Database client, update the tnsnames.ora file located in the Oracle_Home\Network\Admin folder with the database connection details in the following format:

Note: You can also establish the connectivity between the database
and SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise using other methods as per your organization's specifications.

Select Full Control to provide full access rights to the backup file. Click Select All, and select the Import all objects that belong to the selected categories check box. Select BMC Service Assurance. Select appropriate options until you finish backing up the selected objects as a BIAR file. If you want to back up specific reports, launch SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Java InfoView, and enter the authentication details. Click Document List and navigate to Public Folders => BMC Service Assurance, and select the appropriate reports that you want to specifically back up. On the toolbar, click Organize => Copy. On the left pane, select the My Favorites folder, and click Organize => Paste. The selected reports are backed up. You can move them to the new universe after you import it.

Before upgrading BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine, you must first back up your existing universe and other folders, and then delete them from your server. To back up the existing universe and other folders, launch SAP BusinessObjects Import Wizard, and select BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.x. as the source. 2 Enter the authentication details to connect to the computer on which you have installed SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise. 3 Select Business Intelligence Archive Resource (BIAR) File as the destination, and specify the location to save the backup file. 4 Select Import Corporate Categories, Import folders and objects, and Import Universes as the objects to import.

launch BusinessObjects Enterprise Central Management Console, and enter the authentication details. Under Organize, click Folders, and delete the BMC Service . Assurance folder. Under Organize, click Categories, and delete all the categories. Under Organize, click Universes, and delete the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe. Under Organize, click Connections, and delete the connections that you have created for the universe. Install BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine. See Section 3 of this Quick Start Card for more details. If you have made any changes to the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe 8.5, make those changes manually to the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe 8.6.02. If you have backed up any specific reports, move them to the appropriate folders of the new universe.
