blogger, I was originally doing a research on the education system of the Philippines when I stumbled upon the news

of the Reproductive Health bill still under debate, which eventually led me to a blog, AlterNation 101 in blogspot, where I read his take on the issue: "I cannot fathom how promoting parental responsibility and financing everyone's freedom to have sex irresponsibly could mix together. Surely, the proposed law spreads around nice words such as responsibility, healthcare, freedom, choice, development, rights, equality, couples, etc. Yet it is nothing but an attempt to remove God from our government and society." I cannot help but ponder on this fallacious statement and had me thinking about my stand on RH bill. The statement generally stands on an illusion that one is not a Catholic if you dare support this bill. First of all, the bill does not, as the blogger Sef Dudeo distastefully puts it, "finance everyone's freedom to have sex irresponsibly." And if we're reading the same bill at all, it actually does the complete opposite. Second, one can support family planning that implements parental responsibility and still be a good Catholic. I cannot interpret the RH bill as "anti-life." My definition of anti-life would be to completely deprive of the people of access to such knowledge. What exactly is being pro-life? Because there is nothing "pro-life" about unwanted children being born in hostile conditions, being forced to beg on the streets and relying on people's change and leftovers. Not so many of these children are lucky to rise from these poor circumstances. Majority of them repeat this vicious cycle well into their adulthood. If other people are "pro-life", I am "pro-quality of life." The Church claims that it is the parents' responsibility to educate their children on these delicate issues; If one would allow that claim is based on the assumption that every parent in the country is already educated, well-informed and updated, as well as emotionally and mentally prepared to discuss such information to their children, I think critics should bite their tongues and take into consideration the great number of citizens, especially those in poverty lines, who did not have the opportunity to learn , much less discuss, anything about sexual health. The opportunity to be educated about nutrition, family planning, parental responsibility and healthcare in full, honest and appropriate disclosure is hindered because the Church has been hysterically opposing it as unacceptable and un-Catholic to do so Un-Catholic, is it, to inform the youth, couples and families about their sexual health? I think people have the right to know and be completely aware of their reproductive biology, the odds of infertility, the responsibility and possible complications of pregnancy/child-rearing, their capability to prevent STDs and HIV/AIDS, or the understanding what unwanted pregnancy and abortion could lead to? How is it un-Catholic, exactly, to show people how to properly manage their sexual well-being? I am a Roman Catholic, but I think it is completely ridiculous when the Church are scared off their wits just hearing the terms "abortion", "sex education" or "contraceptives" like parents

suddenly get uptight when a kissing scene comes up on the TV screen and command their sixteen-year-old to close his eyes until it's over. The Church is screaming bloody murder, saying the bill would lead to the legalization of abortion. The RH bill "expressively provides that abortion remains a crime and prevention of abortion is essential to implement" the program. How do we prevent abortion? By not mindlessly engaging early in sexual activities that would lead to unwanted pregnancies. The best way to delay these early initiations to sexual relations is to instill correct sexual values along with the knowledge. A lot of people say that the RH bill is not the solution for poverty. I say: of course it won't! What bill, law, program, and/or reform can totally eradicate poverty? But this bill would be a huge contributing factor to alleviating poverty in this country, taken collectively with other programs and actions against poverty-related issues. *RH is not abortion. I'd like to include an excerpt from Conrado de Quiros' article (entitled "Rx")about this argument: "Using a condom no more produces an unborn child than sleeping produces an unborn masterpiece. An unborn child does not exist. It is no more real than an unborn thought, an unborn romance, an unborn heroism. You want to light a candle on the grave of the child that died from contraception, feel free to do so. But dont include others in your lunacy. You want to have an idea of life and death, again go visit the teeming mass huddled inside cardboard boxes that pass for shelter beside the mountains of trash and jutting over dead creeks and rivers. And see what that does to very real, very tangible, very born children." * Others claim that there is no overpopulation in the Philippines. Only a widespread, unequal distribution of wealth and resources. Let me just emphasize: No matter how good the intentions of the government, no matter how brilliant their distribution scheme is (if there is any), the distribution of wealth must go hand-in-hand with population control. Trying to feed a runaway population will only defeat the purpose. China is the second richest population in the world, yet they continue to strictly implement their famous one-child policy. *In my opinion, partly the reason why some people are against the RH bill is because they focus mainly on the sex. *It's true that other forms of contraceptives have side effects. Truth is, anything foreign that you put in or treat to your body- in relevance to medical practice- has side effects. Birth control pills do have to alter your hormones to affirm its purpose. Chemotherapy has severe side effects on a cancer patient, but that doesn't make it any less effective. Look at packagings of nasal sprays, painkillers, etc. Majority of them caution the consumer/patient of their products' side effects. anti rh bill ako...hindi man natin kailangan ang mga ganyang mga bagay, dapat lng sa atin selfcontrol. masmabuti pa ito kaysa gumamit ng mga condoms ,Diaphragms, Cervical Caps at iba pa. dahil dyan marami na ang gumagawa ng pre-marital sex at ito ay againts in the law of God.

ang desisyon ay na sa inyo..your decision can make you a better person or not........d(O_o)b....... Yes God said humayo kayu at magparamianu ba meaning nun sa tingin nyuRESPOSIBILIDAD lng poyung simbahan (di ko kasi alam)nararamdaman ba nila ung bigat sa pagdami ng populasyonung mga pari na wala namang asawa alam bah nila kung bakit kahit anung gawin ng magasawa dumarami pa rin kahit di na nila kaya hayzzz. why do you insist on puttting up the rh bill? it is true that the philippines is overpopulated but if we look more into it, manila is the only place with a high rate of population. other people think that rh bill is the solution but will it really benefit us? if we look at other countries who have passed this kind of bill, alot of them are now suffering and declaring that they should have never agreed to it.it is also true that there are many people living in the streets and a lot are uneducated. so if we pass this bill will it really decrease the less fortunate? and why would the government put so much money on just passing this project which allows teenagers to have sex without getting pregant? instead of using the money for this why not use it for construction of more schools that give benefits to children?? and lastly why would poor people buy contraceptives when they dont eben have money to buy their own food. It only shows that most of the people opposing this bill are the people who does not know about this bill and the church should stop meddling on this issue. What they should do is just to clean up their own mess with some of the priests involved in sexual abuses. The government has the responsibility to make people's lives better and one of these is to pass the RH bill which will give families the decision for responsible parenting and that includes the ability to provide basic needs which is food, good health, comfortable home, good education and happy family. How can you provide this if you have a big family especially for parents who are unemployed and no permanent jobs. So the church, politicians and other non-govt organizations should stop opposing this bill because this is for the benefit of the Filipino people. To be a responsible parent, one should think the future of his family first. His capacity and capability to raise his family and not through the use or practised of RH Bills nor any contraceptives. It only promotes selfishness among couples, because the reason of sex is for creation and not for self pleasure and contentment. Furthermore, the rapid population of the country is not the cause why we are suffering poverty. It is corruption or other factors. Maybe, poverty is one but not totally.
Anti-Rh bill... it depends on the couple on how they handle the situation. You really don't need to use a contraceptive just to control birth, poverty and population growth. There are lots of other ways on how to prevent this problems of our country. When you say responsible parenthood , you don't only say that you need to use contraceptives just to control birth. There are natural ways too. Sometimes "pills" causes hormonal imbalance to a woman and of course in some other cases it is abortifacient. These people should also know their responsibilities. Disciplining yourself by diverting you attention to important things that could benefit and improve your lifestyle other than sex. Besides, this RH bill will have the probability of increasing the abortion rates(infant morbidity), higher HIV prevalence, teenage pregnancy among teenage girls and of course a higher percentage of poverty in the Philippines.

The RH Bill is wrong because it assumes that reproductive education and contraceptives will effectively reduce cases of abortion. Reproductive/contraceptive education will have no effect on

the number of abortion cases. In my opinion, these abortion cases will not lessen because women will continue to have abortions regardless of whether they are pregnant or not.Abortions cannot be prevented. Its just something that women naturally do. Like shopping, for example. The RH Bill is wrong because it will make people participate in extra-marital and pre-marital sex. By approving the RH Bill, we as a nation, are practically encouraging our people to engage in immoral activities. We must protect our moral values and reject the RH Bill. Because, currently, not a single Filipino engages in pre-marital sex or extra-marital sex. As soon as this bill is approved, Filipino people will run the streets naked and start a national orgy! The root cause of extra-marital and pre-marital sex is ones exposure to contraceptives. There is just something in contraceptives that people find very arousing. In Western countries, men lure strange women into bed by showing them condoms. If we ban condoms, absolutely no one would engage in pre-marital or extra-marital sex. The RH Bill is wrong because it assumes that parents dont teach their children about sex. The truth is that parents talk to their children about sex all the time. Its so not awkward. The dad usually tells his children how he takes off all his clothes, does a sexy Tiger growl and makes sweet, sweet music with their mothers body. Also, a father usually advises his daughter that if shes going to have sex with her boyfriend, she should use a condom. Sometimes the father even drives the daughter to the boyfriends house and waits for the couple to finish.Filipino daughters dont have sex without the fathers permission. Unwanted pregnancies or teen pregnancies never happen to Filipino girls. Thats why we do not need the RH Bill.
