Rapportlevage

Even though it is reaching its final stage, it is very early to report on the livestock farming project commissionned for the Libor rural community by the LIBO NGO, with financial support provided by Eliminate Povery Now. Indeed, the report regarding training for community life and the meeting regarding refunds (reimbursements), planned for July 31st, should help further in assessing the situation. However, looking at the latest available results, we can say that the outcome looks promising and all parties involved are already satisfied. The 20 women from the Gonzar village [reported/gave data?] on animal births, sales and manuring. From August 31st through the date when reimbursement is due (6 days from now), the livestock status was a follows:

On July 31st, 2012, the Livestock Farming loan will reach its maturity date. The women from the village will come to repay their loans with interest. To make this possible, all deaths, births and sales are listed in the table below. During that period, one can notice that the 46 animals acquired through the LIBO fund resulted in 30 births total, of which 5 died due solely to the beneficiaries' negligence. The fight against poverty, dear to LIBO and its partners, was a success thanks to the sale of 15 males. This operation allowed the beneficiaries to practice cattle fattening. The different precautions taken by LIBO are as follows : Communication on a regular basis with the villagers ; Availability to take the livestock to be treated or vaccinated; Products availability ; Continuous training and awareness meetings helped control animal mortality rate. Thus, there were only 9 deaths, among which 5 offsprings and 4 adults. The latter were covered by the insurance. As the chart shows, the insurance system truly helped support the women in their operations

It is also important to note that insurance funds (premiums?) went up each time there was a new buy.. During the operation, we recorded the following amount in the insurance account: 112, 500 distributed as follows :

It is easily noticeable that the assurance alloweed to cover the adult deaths thanks to the 15 new adults.

Presently, the set goal of 67 heads for all women living in the Gonzar village is within reach. And that is without taking into account the revenues generated by the sale of the fifteen adults.

Step by step, the reconstruction so wished for will see the light of day and the livestock will be rebuilt. Our satisfaction need not be proven anymore, because this part has been full of promises and hope can be seen in the eyes of the Gonzar women. Extremely commiteed to the renewal of said project, they promise to be present when reimbursement is due on July 31st, so they can receive the second disbursement of funds. However, they judged the number of beneficiaries to be very limited since they are more than 80 in the grouping.

One question remains unanswered: if there are more funds coming, who will be the beneficiaries? Will it be the same women, or will it be possible to include more of them? They hope that their partners will come up with a bank project for the cerals since they are facing difficult times. especially with an unpredictable winter weather approaching. They wish for LIBO and Elimanate Poverty Now support to get rid of the plague that is poverty. Hama Boubacar
