Environmental Planning & Assessment Act, 1979 Public Exhibition of Development Applications
Council is in receipt of the following Development Application(s). Byron Shire Council is the Consent Authority. Any person may view the application(s) and the documents accompanying the application(s) at Councils Information and Enquiry Counter, Station Street, Mullumbimby from 9.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday (public holidays excepted). Any submission needs to be received by 4.00pm on the last day of the exhibition period. Any person may make a written submission to the General Manager in relation to any of the development applications. Where the submission is by way of an objection the submission must set out the grounds of the objection. If you are making a submission you may be required to lodge, now or possibly in the future, a Political Donations and Gifts Disclosure Statement. It is your responsibility to ensure you meet your obligations to disclose reportable political donations and gifts. A failure to meet your obligations is an offence the penalty for which can include signicant nes and/or imprisonment. A Guideline providing detailed information on the disclosure obligations is available at www.byron.nsw.gov.au/political-donations or from Council. Council strongly urges you to read the Guideline and satisfy yourself that you are complying with your disclosure obligations prior to lodging a submission. All Political Donations and Gifts Disclosure Statements will be public documents and all information contained in them will be available to the public and government agencies. Submissions will be made public in accordance with Schedule 1 Part 3 Clause 1(a)(vi) of the GIPA Regulations 2009 as applicable including both the substance of the objection and the identity of the objector. Visitor Trails Map and Brochure


Attention cartographers, graphic designers and printers. Council is developing a Visitor Trails Map and Brochure and is calling for expressions of interest to undertake all or part of the following tasks: The development of a map which will be accurate and a creative piece that visitors would be proud to display when they get home Graphic design of the map and brochure which will feature information about visitor trails and visitor top must see/must do experiences in the Shire. Tourism Advisory Committee


Council is seeking the following suitably qualied external representatives to become members on the Tourism Advisory Committee: Four tourism industry members, of whom One is associated with the tourism industry in Byron Bay, One is associated with the tourism industry in Brunswick Heads, One is associated with rural tourism and One is associated with a small, family type tourism operation. Three community members who are not associated with the tourism industry and of whom at least one is from a rural area. One member from a local environmental organisation. Committee members will have an interest in tourism, strong communication skills, a willingness to contribute and be capable of informing and motivating others. They will readily act solely in the best interests of sustainable tourism in the Shire and will have the ability and willingness to be an ambassador, representing the Shire positively to media, tourism organisations and visitors. It is highly desirable that committee members have expertise in areas such as marketing, business development, tourism business operation, experience with relevant community or regional organisations and an understanding of the current and future needs of the shire regarding the management of tourism. The term of appointment for committee members is to align with the term of Council and appointments are in a voluntary capacity only. Free Hire Sunsmart Marquee to Community Groups


Byron Shire Council is working with Cancer Council in NSW to foster a SunSmart community and has a large marquee for use at community events. The 4.5 x 3 metre SunSmart Marquee is a generous gift from Cancer Council in recognition of Byron Shire Councils efforts to raise community awareness about the importance of sun protection. The SunSmart Marquee will meet a strong need in the community for shade shelters and in the long run could help to prevent skin cancer. Providing both sun and rain protection, the marquee will be available all year round for local sport and community groups to borrow free from the Council.
