Overview
the t2 iDDR includes a maintenance mode that provides access to a number of system management tools. Use these tools to backup the t2 media database, configuration files, and media content to removable storage. this feature is helpful in the event any of the systems drives need to be replaced, including the solid-state system drive (where operating system, application, and database files are stored). these tools can selectively restore the t2 configuration, media database, and media files. if desired, all three can be restored simultaneously.

Before You Begin

please consider the following before you begin: 1. these tools are only available while the t2 is in maintenance mode. the unit will not be available for playback or record functions during backup or restore. 2. Storage requirements can be substantial if you choose to backup media files. Backup of only database and configuration files will require between 2-10 megabytes storage. Media backups, on the other hand, depend on the amount of content stored on the system. Media backups are one-to-one copies of the content files saved on the t2 system and will require as much space on your backup drive as they require on t2. 3. A full backup or restore (which includes all media files) will take time. the amount of time will depend on the amount of content to be moved. external storage is connected via USB 2.0, with an effective transfer rate around 40 MB per secondabout 25 seconds per gigabyte (roughly 4 hours to back-up all media files on a full t2). 4. consider which files need to be backed up. A database-only backup can very quickly restore access to t2 content where the media drives have not been affected by maintenance. in this case, content files still exist and a database restore will inform the t2 software of file names and locations, restoring full access and functionality.
