Year of Faith The Year of Faith began on October 11, 2012, and it commemorates the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and 20th anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and ends on November 24, 2013, the feast of Christ the King. This sacred time will provide Catholics locally and throughout the world a precious opportunity to celebrate, deepen and share the spiritual richness of their Catholic faith. Pancake Breakfast On Sunday, October 21, the UCC will be hosting a pancake breakfast after the 9am Mass. This breakfast is open to all, so we invite everybody to attend Mass and have a fantastic breakfast afterwards. And the best part? The food will be served by our very own Catholic faculty and staff of UT Austin! Please bring your friends and family to this wonderful event! Spring Break Mission Trip 2013: Belize This year, our annual Spring Break Mission Trip will be heading to Belize to work with Hand in Hand Ministries doing construction work. All students are invited to apply to go on the trip. Applications are available at utcath.us/missiontrip2013app and are due on Sunday, November 4. BoxTops for Education The UCC is supporting St. Austins Catholic School in their drive to collect BoxTops for Education, with each coupon being worth 10 cents. Last year, this group managed to earn $703, but with your help this year, they should be able to double that amount! There is a box in the atrium of the UCC where you can deposit the coupons you collect. You can also go online at boxtops4education.com and become a St. Austins school supporter (zip code 78702) while getting some great deals and coupons. Thank you all for your contributions! If you need more information, please contact Diane Key at dkey7@austin.rr.com. Sign Up for Eucharistic Adoration As Catholics, we believe that Jesus comes to us under the form of bread and wine, and when we spend time in adoration, we are spending time with someone, not something. Exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be offered at the UCC on Tuesday and Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Contact Elizabeth Lange at elizabeth@utcatholic.org for more information or to sign up, visit utcath.us/7m.

Isaac Hecker Quote To develop the mind there is never need to minimize the truth; but there is great need of knowing how to assimilate the truth to different minds. [The Human Environments of the Catholic Faith, The Catholic World, 1888] Paulist Fathers Mission Statement We give the Word of God a voice in pulpits and print, on radio and television, on the Web and the wide screen. We search out those who have no church home, and welcome home those who have been away. We share the passion of St. Paul for unity in faith and solidarity in mission among all the baptized in the body of Christ. We build bridges of respect and collaboration with people of other world religions. We welcome people of diverse racial and cultural backgrounds in our parish, city center and campus worshipping communities. The Gospel we preach calls for all the children of God to be treated with dignity and justice. We claim Isaac Hecker as our founder, the Holy Spirit as our primary guide, St. Paul as our patron and laity as our valued partners in mission. We are the Paulist Fathers.
