The chiefs of his 88. people, who were arrogant, said, `O Shuaib! We will surely drive you out and those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our religion.` He said, `Even if we hate it?` `Verily we would 89. have fabricated a lie against Allah if we returned to your religion after Allah had saved us from it. And it is not for us that we return to it except that Allah, our Lord, wills. Our Lord encompasses all things in knowledge. Upon Allah we put our trust. Our Lord! Decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the Best of those who Decide.`

The chiefs of 90. those who disbelieved from his people said, `If you follow Shuaib, then, certainly, you will be losers.

91. So the earthquake seized them, then they became in their homes fallen prone (dead).

92. Those who denied Shuaib were as if they had never lived there. Those who denied Shuaib, they were the losers. 93. So he turned away from them and said, `O my people! And We sent to no city a Prophet except that We seized its people with adversity and hardship so that they may become humble. Then We 95. exchanged in place of the bad (condition), good, until they increased and said, ` Verily, our forefathers were touched with adversity and ease.`So seized them We suddenly, while they did not perceive. And if only the 96. people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they denied. So We seized them for what they used to earn. 97. Then did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep? 98. Or did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in daylight while they were at play? 99. Did they then feel secure against the plan of Allah? But no one feels secure from the plan of Allah except the people who are losers. Would it not 100. guide those who inherit the land after

its people that if We willed, We could afflict them for their sins and put a seal over their hearts so they do not hear? 101. These cities - We relate to you some of their news. And certainly their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they would not believe in what they had denied before. Thus Allah put a seal on the hearts of the disbelievers. 102. And We did not find for most of them (loyalty to) any covenant. But certainly, We found most of them defiantly disobedient. 103. Then We sent after them Musa with Our Signs to Firaun and his chiefs, but they were unjust towards them. So see how was the end of the corrupters. And Musa said, 104. ` Firaun! Indeed, I am O a Messenger from the Lord of the worlds 105. Obligated not to say about Allah except the truth. Verily, I have come to you with a clear Sign from your Lord, so send with me the Children of Israel.` If 106. He (Firaun) said, ` you have come with a Sign, then bring it, if you are truthful.` 107. So he (Musa) threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent, manifest. 108. And he drew his hand

They said, 111. ` Postpone (the matter of) him and his brother and send in the cities gatherers 112. They will bring to you every learned magician.`

113. So the magicians came to the Firaun. They said, ` Indeed, there will be a reward for us if we are the victors.` Yes, and 114. He said, ` surely you will be of those near (to me).`

O 115. They said, ` Musa! Whether you throw or we will be the ones to throw.

Throw.` 116. He said, ` Then when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and terrified them, and they came up with a great magic. 117. And We inspired to Musa, ` Throw your staff,` and suddenly it swallowed what they were falsifying. 118. So the truth was established, and what they used to do became futile. 119. So they were defeated right there and returned humiliated.

120. And the magicians fell down prostrate. 121. They said,

Indeed, this is a plot you have plotted in the city to drive out its people from it. But soon you will know. 124. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet of the opposite sides. Then I will surely crucify you all.` Indeed, 125. They said, ` to our Lord we will return.` And you do not 126. take revenge on us but for that we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they came to us, ` Our Lord! Pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims.` And the chiefs of 127. the people of Firaun said, ` Will you leave Musa and his people to cause corruption in the land and forsake you and your gods?` He said, ` will kill their We sons and we will let live their women, and indeed, we are subjugators over them.` Musa said to his 128. people, ` Seek help from Allah and be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to Allah. He gives it as inheritance to whom He wills of His servants. We 129. They said, ` have been harmed before you came to us and after you have come to us.` He said, ` Perhaps your Lord will destroy your enemy and make you successors in the earth, and see how you will do.`

130. And certainly, We seized the people of Firaun with years (of famine) and a deficit of fruits so that they may receive admonition.

But when good 131. came to them, they said, ` This is for us.` And if a bad (condition) afflicted them, they ascribed evil omens to Musa and those with him. Behold! Their evil omens are only with Allah but most of them do not know. And they said, 132. ` Whatever sign you bring to bewitch us therewith, we will not believe in you.`

133. So We sent on them the flood, locusts, lice, frogs and blood as manifest signs, but they showed arrogance and were a criminal people. And when the 134. punishment fell on them, they said, ` O Musa! Invoke your Lord for us by what He has promised you. And We made 137. inheritors, the people who were considered weak, of the eastern parts of the land and the western parts, which We had blessed. And the best word of your Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel because they were patient. And We destroyed what Firaun and his people used to make and what used to erect. And We took the 138. Children of Israel across the sea. Then they came upon a people devoted to idols they had. They said, ` O Musa! Make for us a god just as they have gods. He said, ` Indeed, you are an ignorant people.` ` Indeed, these 139. (people) - destroyed is that in which they are (engaged) and vain is what they used to do.` 140. He said, ` Should

And when Musa came to Our appointed place and his Lord spoke to him, he said, `O my Lord show me Yourself that I may look at You.` He said, `You cannot see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain in its place, then you will see Me.` But when his Lord revealed His Glory on the mountain, He made it crumbled to dust and Musa fell down unconscious. And when he recovered, he said, `Glory be to You! I You turn to in repentance, and I am the first of the believers.` 144. He said, `O Musa! Indeed, I have chosen you over

And We ordained (laws) for him on the tablets regarding everything, an exhortation and explanation for everything, ` So take them with firmness and order your people to take the best of it. I will show you the home of the defiantly disobedient.` 146. I will turn away from My Signs those who are arrogant on the earth without right; and even if they see every sign, they will not believe in it. And if they see the way of righteousness, they will not adopt it as a way, and if they see the way of error, they will adopt it as a way. That is because they denied Our Signs and they were heedless of them. 147. Those who denied Our Signs and meeting of the Hereafter, vain are their deeds. Will they be recompensed except for what they used to do? 148. And the people of Musa made, after his (departure), from their ornaments an image of a calf, which gave a lowing sound. Did they not see that it

Indeed, the people considered me weak and were about to kill me. So let not the enemies rejoice over me and do not place me among the wrongdoing people.` O 151. He (Musa) said, ` my Lord! Forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your Mercy, for You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.` Indeed, those who 152. took the calf (for worship) will be reach them the wrath from their Lord and humiliation in the life of this world. And thus We recompense the inventors (of falsehood). 153. And those who do

And when the 154. anger of Musa calmed down, he took up the tablets, and in their inscription was guidance and mercy for those who are fearful of their Lord. 155. And Musa chose from his people seventy men for Our appointment. Then when the earthquake seized them, he said, ` O my Lord! If You had willed, You could have destroy them before and me (as well). Would You destroy us for what the foolish among us have done? This is not but Your trial by which You let go astray whom You will and guide whom You will. You are our Protector, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the Best of Forgivers.

the unlettered Prophet, whom they find written in what they have of the Taurat and the Injeel. He commands them to that which is right and forbids them from that which is wrong and makes lawful for them the pure things and makes unlawful for them the impure things and relieves them of their burden and the fetters which were upon them. So those who believe in him, honor him, and help him and follow the light, which has been sent down with him, those are the successful ones.` O 158. Say, ` mankind! Indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no god except Him, He gives life and causes death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, who believes in Allah and His Words, and follow him so that you may be guided.` And among the 159. people of Musa is a community which guides by truth and by it establishes justice. And We 160. divided them into twelve tribes as communities. And We inspired to Musa when his people asked him for water,

So when they 166. exceeded all bounds about what they had been forbidden, We said to them, ` apes, Be despised.` And when your 167. Lord declared that He would surely send upon them until the Day of Resurrection those who would afflict them with a grievous punishment. We will surely drive you out and those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our religion.` He said, `Even if we hate it?` `Verily we would 89. have fabricated a lie against Allah if we returned to your religion after Allah had saved us from it. And it is not for us that we return to it except that Allah, our Lord, wills. Our Lord encompasses all things in knowledge. Upon Allah we put our trust. Our Lord! Decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the Best of those who Decide.`

The chiefs of 90. those who disbelieved from his people said, `If you follow Shuaib, then, certainly, you will be losers.

91. So the earthquake seized them, then they became in their homes fallen prone (dead).

92. Those who denied Shuaib were as if they had never lived there. Those who denied Shuaib, they were the losers. 93. So he turned away from them and said, `O my people! And if only the 96. people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they denied. So We seized them for what they used to earn. 97. Then did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep? 98. Or did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in daylight while they were at play? 99. Did they then feel secure against the plan of Allah? And certainly their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they would not believe in what they had denied before. Thus Allah put a seal on the hearts of the disbelievers. 102. And We did not find for most of them (loyalty to) any covenant. But certainly, We found most of them defiantly disobedient. 103. Then We sent after them Musa with Our Signs to Firaun and his chiefs, but they were unjust towards them. So see how was the end of the corrupters. And Musa said, 104. ` Firaun! Indeed, I am O a Messenger from the Lord of the worlds 105. Obligated not to say about Allah except the truth. Verily, I have come to you with a clear Sign from your Lord, so send with me the Children of Israel.` If 106. He (Firaun) said, ` you have come with a Sign, then bring it, if you are truthful.` 107. So he (Musa) threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent, manifest. 108. And he drew his hand

Throw.` 116. He said, ` Then when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and terrified them, and they came up with a great magic. 117. And We inspired to Musa, ` Throw your staff,` and suddenly it swallowed what they were falsifying. 118. So the truth was established, and what they used to do became futile. 119. So they were defeated right there and returned humiliated.

120. And the magicians fell down prostrate. 121. They said,

They said, ` to our Lord we will return.` And you do not 126. take revenge on us but for that we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they came to us, ` Our Lord! Pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims.` And the chiefs of 127. the people of Firaun said, ` Will you leave Musa and his people to cause corruption in the land and forsake you and your gods?` He said, ` will kill their We sons and we will let live their women, and indeed, we are subjugators over them.` Musa said to his 128. people, ` Seek help from Allah and be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to Allah. He gives it as inheritance to whom He wills of His servants. 130. And certainly, We seized the people of Firaun with years (of famine) and a deficit of fruits so that they may receive admonition.

But when good 131. came to them, they said, ` This is for us.` And if a bad (condition) afflicted them, they ascribed evil omens to Musa and those with him. Behold! Their evil omens are only with Allah but most of them do not know. And they said, 132. ` Whatever sign you bring to bewitch us therewith, we will not believe in you.`

133. So We sent on them the flood, locusts, lice, frogs and blood as manifest signs, but they showed arrogance and were a criminal people. And when the 134. punishment fell on them, they said, ` O Musa! Invoke your Lord for us by what He has promised you. And We took the 138. Children of Israel across the sea. Then they came upon a people devoted to idols they had. They said, ` O Musa! Make for us a god just as they have gods. He said, ` Indeed, you are an ignorant people.` ` Indeed, these 139. (people) - destroyed is that in which they are (engaged) and vain is what they used to do.` 140. He said, ` Should

And when he recovered, he said, `Glory be to You! I You turn to in repentance, and I am the first of the believers.` 144. He said, `O Musa! Indeed, I have chosen you over

I will turn away from My Signs those who are arrogant on the earth without right; and even if they see every sign, they will not believe in it. And if they see the way of righteousness, they will not adopt it as a way, and if they see the way of error, they will adopt it as a way. That is because they denied Our Signs and they were heedless of them. 147. Those who denied Our Signs and meeting of the Hereafter, vain are their deeds. Will they be recompensed except for what they used to do? 148. And the people of Musa made, after his (departure), from their ornaments an image of a calf, which gave a lowing sound. Did they not see that it

Forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your Mercy, for You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.` Indeed, those who 152. took the calf (for worship) will be reach them the wrath from their Lord and humiliation in the life of this world. And thus We recompense the inventors (of falsehood). 153. And those who do

And Musa chose from his people seventy men for Our appointment. Then when the earthquake seized them, he said, ` O my Lord! If You had willed, You could have destroy them before and me (as well). Would You destroy us for what the foolish among us have done? This is not but Your trial by which You let go astray whom You will and guide whom You will. You are our Protector, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the Best of Forgivers.

So those who believe in him, honor him, and help him and follow the light, which has been sent down with him, those are the successful ones.` O 158. Say, ` mankind! Indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no god except Him, He gives life and causes death. So when they 166. exceeded all bounds about what they had been forbidden, We said to them, ` apes, Be despised.` And when your 167. Lord declared that He would surely send upon them until the Day of Resurrection those who would afflict them with a grievous punishment. And the home of the Hereafter is better for those who are God fearing. So will you not use your intellect? 170. And those who hold fast to the Book and establish prayer indeed, We will not let go waste the reward of the reformers. 171. And when We raised the mountain above them as if it was a canopy and they thought that it would fall upon them, (We said), `Hold firmly what We have given you and remember what is in it so that you may fear God.` 172. And when your Lord took from the Children of Adam from their loins - their descendents and made them testify over themselves, `Am I not your Lord?` They said, `Yes, we have testified.` (This) - lest you say on the Day of Resurrection, `Indeed, we were unaware about this.` 173. But Allah intended to justify the truth by His words and to eliminate the disbelievers That He might justify the truth and prove false the falsehood, even if the criminals disliked it. When you sought help of your Lord, and answered you, He `Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand Angels, following one another.`

And if you desist, it is good for you, but if you will return, We too will return. And never will your forces avail you anything, even if they are numerous. And Allah is with the believers. 20. O you who believe! Obey Allah and His Messenger. And do not turn away from him when you hear (his order). And do not be like 21. those who say, ` We hear,`while they do not hear. Indeed, worst of 22. the living creatures in the sight of Allah are the deaf and the dumb, those who do not use reason. And had Allah 23. known any good in them, He would have made them hear. And if He had made them hear, they would (still) have turned away, while they were averse. 24. O you who believe! Respond to Allah

O you who believe! 19 from him turn away say, like those who be worst Indeed, (do) not those who O you who believe!

then certainly

your forces

O you who believe! Do not betray Allah and the Messenger nor betray your trusts while you know. And know that 28. your wealth and your children are a trial. And that, with Allah is a great reward. 29. O you who believe! If you fear Allah, He will grant you a criterion and will remove from you your sins and forgive you. And Allah is the Possessor of Great Bounty. And when those 30. who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you

(and) deemed weak (were) few

And know

But Allah would not punish them while you are among them, and Allah would not punish them while they seek forgiveness. But why should 34. Allah not punish them while they hinder (people) from AlMasjid Al-Haraam while they are not its guardians? None can be its guardian except those who are God conscious, but most of them do not know. And their prayer at 35. the House was nothing but whistling and clapping. So taste the punishment because you used to disbelieve. 36. Indeed, those who
