Commentator: Please be seated for the Liturgy of the Word. LITURGY OF THE WORD FIRST READING Reader: A reading from the letter of Paul to the Romans None of us lives for oneself, and no one dies for oneself. For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. For this is why Christ died and came to life, that we might he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God; for it is written: As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bend before me, and every tongue shall give praise to God. So then each of us shall give an account of himself to God. The word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God. Romans 14: 7-9, 10b-12

RESPONSORIAL PSALM (sung) Commentator: Let us all stand to honor the Gospel.

ALLELUIA (sung)

GOSPEL Deacon: People: Deacon: People: The Lord be with you. And with your spirit.

Matthew 5:13-16

A reading from the holy gospel according to Matthew. Glory to you, O Lord.

The deacon incenses the Gospel Book using three sticks of incense, and bowing three times towards it. Afterwards, he gives the sticks to the server to be placed in the burner. Deacon: You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father. The gospel of the Lord. People: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Commentator: Please be seated for the Homily. HOMILY (Fr. Johnny C. Go SJ)

Commentator (after a proper pause): Please stand for the Prayer of the Faithful.

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL Presider: Brothers and sisters, Jesus Christ is risen from the dead and sits at the right hand of the Father, where he intercedes for his Church. Confident that God hears the voices of those who trust in the Lord Jesus, we join our prayers to his. In every petition, let us pray: LORD, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US. GS Student: In baptism, Fr. Zuloaga received the light of Christ. May his life and example inspire the members of the Xavier School Community to continue nursing the light of others, especially the students. Lord, hear us: HS Student: Fr. Zuloaga shared in the priesthood of Jesus Christ, leading and serving God's people with humility. May the students and alumni of the School persevere to be men fully alive endowed with a passion for justice and skills for development. Lord, hear us: Parent: In his priestly ministry, Fr. Zuloaga served as spiritual father to many. May Xavier parents take inspiration from him as they live out their vocation as parents. Lord, hear us: We are assembled here in faith and confidence to pray for our brother Ismael. Strengthen our hope so that we may live in the expectation of your Son's coming. Lord, hear us: Lord God, giver of peace and healer of souls, hear the prayers of the Redeemer, Jesus Christ, and the voices of your people, whose lives were purchased by the blood of the Lamb. Forgive the sins of all who sleep in Christ and grant them a place in the kingdom. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Presider: People: Presider:

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just. It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord. For as one alone he accepted death, so that we might all escape from dying; as one man he chose to die, so that in your sight we all might live for ever. And so, in company with the choirs of Angels, we praise you, and with joy we proclaim:

HOLY (sung) EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II Presider: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.

Presider and concelebrants: Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body and + Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and, once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME. Presider: The mystery of faith.

ANAMNESIS (sung) Presider with concelebrants: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of Life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Concelebrant 1: Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Benedict our Pope and Luis Antonio our Archbishop and all the clergy. Concelebrant 2: Remember your servant Ismael, whom you have called from this world to yourself. Grant that he who was united with your Son in a death like his, may also be one with him in his Resurrection.

Concelebrant 3: Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy; welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the blessed Apostles, Saints Ignatius of Loyola and Francis Xavier, and all the Saints who have please you throughout the ages, we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. Presider and concelebrants: THROUGH HIM, AND WITH HIM, AND IN HIM, O GOD, ALMIGHTY FATHER, IN THE UNITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, ALL GLORY AND HONOR IS YOURS, FOR EVER AND EVER. GREAT AMEN (sung) THE COMMUNION RITE Presider: At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

OUR FATHER (sung in Chinese) Presider: Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace I leave you, my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will. Who live for ever and ever. Amen.
