Paula and I started ACTS because of our passion held by one belief - that trained people perform better. One thing that we have learned about ourselves throughout our careers is that you have to do what you love and love what you do. Our pursuit of veterinary medicine and board vertification were all things that we loved doing because we truly believe in the work that we do and the value that we bring as laboratory animal veterinarians to the biomedical research community. Animal Care Training Services was created out of the same love for the things that we do. Working with animals connected us so deeply to the people responsible for their care. Soon we realized that the value of the organizations in the animal care research industry is held by the animal care workers and researchers. It was then that we immediately became committed to providing people with a sense of purpose and greater understanding of the complexities of their work environment - to be able to empower them with the ability to do more than they ever imaged themselves capable. It is our goal to create a stronger sense of empowerment and personal abillity with each person trained. With our 3 Month Check-Up program we are committed to following up with all trainees to ensure proper performance. We use faceto-face meetings and social media interactions to track and encourage excellence.

The Wistar institute contacted ACTS with a need to increase the skill set of their trainers and design a hands on training program for the research community. ACTS was able to provide Wistars existing trainers with a greater number of techniques often used in research, they also taught the trainers how to deliver hands on training courses for researchers. At the conclusion of the training the trainers were confident in their ability to perform and teach their newly learned skills. Currently the Wistar animal facility is under major renovation, plans are in place to implement a regular training program for researchers once the facility reopens.
