Pray through Gods Story (Week 20)

Focus on God
God is great. Reflect on the evidences of his greatness in his creation, in the Bible and in your life. I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. (Psalm 145:1-3) God is good. Reflect on the evidences of his goodness in his creation, in the Bible and in your life. The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made. (Psalm 145:8-9)

Respond from the Heart

Take time to reflect on God as God who knows all things. Reflect on the implications of that truth in our Christian life. O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. (Psalm 139:1-3) Ask God to search your heart and reveal areas of disobedience. Ask him for forgiveness. Ask him to continue to purify your heart. Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! (Psalm 139:23-24)

Seek First the Kingdom

Pray that God will be glorified among all the nations. Pray for the Church to be passionate in spreading the glory of God to the unreached peoples of the world. Pray against barriers to accomplishing the Great Commission. I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! (Psalm 108:3-5)

Present Your Requests

Identify people who do you bad even if you do them good. Reflect on your attitude towards them. In return for my love they accuse me, but I give myself to prayer. So they reward me evil for good, and hatred for my love. (Psalm 109:4-5) Ask God to help you deal with them, to rescue you from their evil intents and to help you love them. Oh grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man! With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes. (Psalm 108:12-13)

Close in Celebration
Praise God for how he has uniquely created you. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. (Psalm 139:14) Praise God for answered prayers and for how he strengthened you. On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased. (Psalm 138:3)
