Vs1 In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of the LORD by the prophet Haggai, saying, Vs2 Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,

Vs3 Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing? Vs4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:

In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month. Lev 23:34 . The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD. 21st day is the last day of the feast.

2) Looking at The Present: The Fulfillment / Completion of the gathering. Lev 23:39 Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, Ex 23:16 . and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field.

3) Looking forward The Future: Looking forward to the days of millennium when all the promises of God w.r.t. their earthly inheritance is fulfilled Jn 7:2, 3 Now the Jews feast of tabernacles was at hand. 3 His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.

My time is not yet come. Why? Because before he shows himself to this world as Christ, he had to accomplish the Passover and the first fruits .

The Day How many times should the males appear each year for the feast? Ex 34: 18 The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep.. V22 And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the years end. V23 Thrice in the year shall all your men children appear before the Lord GOD, the God of Israel.

Difference between Feast of Firstfruits & Weeks Feast of the Firstfruits: Lev 23:10 When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: Lev 23:11 . on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.

Feast of the Weeks: Lev 23:15-17 .. from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering . shall ye number fifty days . Ye shall bring .. two wave loaves baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD. Both Feast are to do with the firstfruits.

Ex 34: 22 And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the years end. Feast of the weeks Firstfruits of the WHEAT harvest. Feast of Firstfruits Firstfruits of the BARLEY harvest.

Which is the feast we read in Jn 5? Jn4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. 4 months time for wheat to harvest. So the feast in the following chapter - Jn 5, probably was the Feast of Weeks

Lev 23: 40 And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days. Time to rejoice not to afflict.

Ezr 3:12 But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:

The Discouragement

1Chro 22:5 And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries. They began the work but now discouraged. Never be discouraged with what happened in the past.

1) The Blessing Deut 16:15 Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast unto the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD shall choose: because the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands, therefore thou shalt surely rejoice.

The Delight 2) The Rejoicing Deut 16:15 Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast . because the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands, therefore thou shalt surely rejoice. Jn 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

440 years earlier on the same day when Haggai spoke, Solomon too spoke. 2Kg 8:66 On the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.

Neh 8:17 And all the congregation of them that were come again out of the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths: for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel done so. And there was very great gladness.
