1. Objective
The objective of this method statement is to provide an overview for placing of geotextile for the Project of Adnec Quay Wall Construction works to be carried out on a build basis by Overseas AST. 2. Description of Works The placing of geotextile is the next activity after excavation and trimming of slope works for the project Adnec Quay Wall Construction Works to be carried out on a build basis by Overseas AST CO LLC. Placing of the geotextile will begin from the submerged toe, slope, then till the crest line in two stages The works will be started as per the approved updated programme submitted. Duration of the works shall match the updated programme. The sequence of the works will be in accordance with the excavation of the slope and trimming of the same Stage-1 For Toe and submerged slope portion.upto RL -2 For this part where placing the Geotextile is not feasible by mannual method crane and spool method shall be used to lay the geotextile. The sequence for laying the Geotextile as per the sketch shown shall be the following: o Required full width of the bedding geotextile layer on the slope & toe shall be stitched & rolled onto the spool. o The spool shall be suspended from an A-Frame attached to crane o Loops are stiched at the end of the geotextile and the loops are connected to quick release shackles on the steel beam. By pulling the release wire the shackles will open and the geotextile will be released.

o Two steel pipes will be driven to ensure the position of the Hbeam. o Edge beam shall be lifted by the crane and placed in the required location. o The alignment of the edge beam as placed on the bed shall be inspected through the steel pipes. If edge beam is not aligned properly its position shall be rectified with assistance from diver team. o Spool shall be rolled by lifting operation of crane. Since the geotextile is attached to the edge beam on one end, while rolling the spool the geotextile shall get laid in the area between the edge beam and the spool. Further weights in form of stones & blocks shall be placed by cranes to ensure stability & positioning of laid geotextile. o Geotextile will be opened in the direction of the current this is to prevent the current from going under the geotextile and lifting it from the bed. o During spreading the geotextile the roll has to remain rested on the seabed this is to prevent the strong current from unrolling the geotextile. o The H-beam will be dimensioned such that it has sufficient weight to hold the geotextile when the crane start pulling the spool. o With the geotextile held in position by the spool & the edge beam, the Bottom Filter material shall be placed over it by excavator a with minimum acheivable drop height. o After completion the spool shall be lifted up. The edge beam shall also be retreived. o To avoid any rock placing on the areas of overlap, marker bouys shall be placed to have visual indication of area over which rock is to be placed. Overlapping will be ensured by precise positioning of the spool. GPS antannae will be mounted at the end of frame from which the spool will be suspended. o Divers shall be employed for all diving operations.

Stage-2 For Section from submerged between RL -2 upto RL +4.00 For this Section where the area is accesible during the low tide, Geotextile shall be laid manually using divers. The following will be the stages for laying. Geotextile shall be laid to the required width as specified in construction method drawings for individual cross section, geotextile will be previously stiched. Wooden pegs shall be temporarily installed at the required co-ordinates to mark the place for laying the geotextile. The Geotextile shall be transported and laid at the marked location, in the direction of the current. To keep the geotextile in position after laying, temporary sand bags or rocks will be placed all along the specified exposed length. This shall keep the sheet in position till rock is placed over it. Length of geotextile to be opened will depend on the operation hours for filter placing between tides. Some rocks shall be manually placed while laying the geotextile to hold it in position before placing the sand bags.
