Entry Level Part-time / Temporary The Organization The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund was established in 1981 to promote the participation of Latinos in the nations civic life. The NALEO Educational Fund carries out this mission by developing and implementing programs that promote the integration of Latino immigrants into American society, providing assistance and training to the nations Latino elected and appointed officials, and conducting research on issues important to the Latino population. The NALEO Educational Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization governed by a 15-member Board of Directors and a 28- member Board of Advisors. Both Boards are composed of Members of Congress, state and local elected officials, and corporate leaders from across the country. The NALEO Educational Fund maintains offices in Houston, Los Angeles, Orlando, New York City, and Washington D.C. It employs approximately 45 full-time staff and has an annual budget of approximately $8 million. The Position The NALEO Educational Fund seeks motivated individuals to staff its national bilingual hotline. The Hotline Operator will be responsible for answering calls, documenting calls, and assisting individuals with basic non-legal information and local referrals related to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), U.S. citizenship, and elections. Duties also include but are not limited to recording all call details in a simple database, following up on pending calls and retrieving voicemail as instructed. This is an entry level, part-time/ temporary position at $10.00 per hour. This position will start August 28, 2012 and end on November 7, 2012. All operators will be required to attend a training series. Qualifications Energetic and enthusiastic Self-motivated and ability to trouble-shoot Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills Bilingual (English and Spanish) is required Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and basic computer functions (typing, navigating the internet) Ability to sit for long periods of time Positive attitude, detail-oriented, highly motivated and organized If a driver, must have a valid drivers license with proof of automobile insurance coverage Ability to work respectfully with people of all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds Supportive of the mission and philosophy of the NALEO Educational Fund
