FAQs Do you have a website? Our website is currently under construction and will be online in a few weeks.

Whats the difference between metals? Silver/gold plated items are made from a base metal such as copper which is then coated with a very thin layer of silver or gold. Over time the top layer can wear away. Because the top layer is so thin these items do not have any silver/gold value which is why they are cheaper than sterling silver. Sterling silver is made from at least 92.5% solid silver mixed in with a metal such as copper to make up the other 7.5%. It is mixed with another metal to make it hard and more durable as solid silver is quite soft. Sterling silver lasts forever and can be polished up with silver cream. Items weighing less than 7.78g are exempt from the compulsory hallmark rule so you may not see one on smaller items. I have an idea for a piece of jewellery thats not on the website? Take hair from the top of the underneath/inner tail near the dock Cut approx. 2 pencil widths of hair. We individually count out the hairs for each project so please make sure there arent any short hairs. Make sure the hair is clean. It can either be washed on the horse or tied with an elastic band and then washed. Only shampoo should be used, no conditioners or sprays. Keep the hair together with an elastic band, dont tie or knot it. If sending more than one horses hair keep them separate. How much hair do I need for a necklace/bracelet? Ideally we need around 18 inches of hair or longer but we can make some bracelets with 12-14 inches of hair.

I only have mane hair/ a small amount of hair, can you make me bracelet? We cant use mane hair for plaited bracelet as the hair isnt strong enough. However, we are currently working on projects suitable for mane and small amounts of hair so please like our page and check back for updates. If you are not sure you are welcome to send us the amount you do have and we can check to see what we can make with it. How do I look after my bracelet once Ive received it? Horse hair is quite tough and long lasting so with a little care it should last a very long time. It is not recommended to wear the jewellery in the shower/bath/swimming as the chemicals can damage and weaken the hair and damage the hair. Sometimes a hair may snag or come loose. If this happens you can either pull the hair completely out or trim it right back to the braid, making sure not to cut any other hairs. If you wear the bracelet next to other jewellery or watches some of the hairs may snag so we dont recommend this. Silver plate should be kept away from strong sunlight and smoky atmospheres as it may affect the colouring. Sterling silver parts can be cleaned with a special polish pad or silver cream.
