Biodegradable plastic: What

s new?

Basically there are three products available on the Biodegradable plastic indust ry. The Oxo -degradables, BioAdictives and the BioResins.A point to note is tha t there are many advantages of using them. On the other hand the products can be limited in its usefulness in particular areas. As we go through each of these p roducts, you will come to understand the usefulness of these products. First, Ox o-degradables products are mainly used in regions prone to heat, strong air, lig ht and sometimes mechanical pressure. Such weather conditions are known to cause the plastic to disintegrate into non plastic particles which are known as diols . When this occurs, the plastic molecules can then allow bacteria or fungus (com monly known as microbes) to decompose the plastic hence allowing the final resul ts to be nature useful. Unlike the other products, Oxo-degradables products are not easy to break down and are not considered to be a biodegradable plastic solu tion. BioResin on the other hand will work well when placed in an industrial compost s etting. It is not an easy venture to embark on since setting up these special fa cilities is very involving. The facilities for BioResin are quite few and they r equire temperatures of up to 140 degrees heat. Facilities which can handle such heat are quite few in the market. Most of the machines or facilities available c an only manage 110 degrees of heat. This is by far less compared to the needed a mount of heat required to do BioResin. Normal way of decomposing cannot be appli ed on BioResin because of this factor. The only way to decompose such products i s through an industrial compost facility. As indicated by the name, BioResin pro ducts are largely made of organic material. This is the main reason as to why th ey take longer than the industrial decomposition methods. Most of them are made from materials such as algae, corn and sugar. The third product from Biodegradable plastic industry is the BioAddictives. Such products can be tested using the ASTMD5511-11 method. These products have been marketed cross the world. The above testing method is basically used in regions with less oxygen. Such regions are conducive for the working of BioAddictives. T his is how it works; the product is created in such a way that it is easier for bacteria and fungus to work through the plastic from the top layer to the last l ayer of the plastic. Such process ensures that the product is not completely bro ken down into pieces but it its original shape is maintained. The only notable c hange is in the weight of the plastic which greatly reduces with use.
