The HP Officejet G series all-in-one was introduced on 28-Feb-2000 and started reaching store shelves in May of 2000. It is the first HP all-in-one product to support network faxing and scanning, USB connectivity, and Macintosh computers. The HP Jetdirect 300X print server is supported on the HP Officejet G series models for Macintosh computers. Optical character recognition (OCR) software

The HP Officejet G series software CDROM includes the ReadIRIS Professional version 5.5 OCR program to convert text images into editable text. This software is designed to work with Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0, and 2000. This software has been provided as a convenience to our customers. HP does not hold license to this software and cannot provide any updates or downloads of this software. The only way to obtain this software from HP is by ordering a replacement software CDROM . Updates to this software must be obtained from I.R.I.S .

Recommended cables
The all-in-one product uses an advanced IEEE 1284C cable or a USB connection. USB is the preferred connection method for Windows 98 and Windows 2000. Connections to Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 systems must be with IEEE 1284C parallel cables. Cables (except the 8120-8668 2 meter cable) may be ordered online from HP.
