GUIDELINES FOR FUNCTIONAL HOME ECONOMICS BUILDING SY 2012-2013 C0NCERNS I. PHYSICAL ASPECTS A. Surroundings 1. Surroundings are provided with low and permanent fence. 2. Front lawn is landscaped and planted with ornamental plants (include cadena de amor) and/or non-ornamental plants. 3. Backyard and other spaces around the building are planted with nutritious vegetables and fruit-bearing trees, non-fruit-bearing trees, medicinal plants and others like as-is & tabaan. 4. Health and sanitary provisions are available and provided with potable water, blind drainage and big garbage cans or containers with cover for proper waste segregation. 5. Surroundings are clean, free from hazards and with proof of continuous maintenance. B. General Appearance of H.E. Building 1. Building and parts are in good condition, painted and repaired like: a. roofs (including gutters and downspouts), b. ceilings c. walls/partitions d. windows e. floors f. cabinets g. faucets h. sink i. toilet j. drainage with cover 2. Living units are neat, clean, orderly, spaceous and with installed functional electrical facilities and water system such as: a. living room or sala b. bedrooms c. dining room d. kitchen with food laboratory (big enough to accommodate the class) e. utility kitchen f. toilet g. bathroom h. classroom (separate room within or adjacent to the H.E. building and big enough to accommodate the class) i. clothing laboratory (separate room within the H.E. building) j. store room (materials & equipment are well organized) k. washing/laundry area 3. Interior arrangement and decoration like: a. Curtains are appropriate for the room. b. Pictures are appropriate for the room, correctly mounted and hung c. Pieces of furniture are appropriate for the room, properly grouped and correctly arranged. d. Potted plants are available in right places to give beauty and

life. e. Flower and/or fruit arrangement are artistically arranged. II. SAFEKEEPING AND STORAGE A. Safekeeping: Windows and doors are in good condition(with locks), provided with high quality grills (iron/wood). B. Storage 1. Instructional materials/teaching aids/devices (only those being used should be displayed) are properly classified, piled and stored . 2. Complete and updated Project EPPLP for Grades IV, V and VI are available 3. Laboratory equipment, facilities and utensils are systematically and properly stored and labeled in cabinets or shelves.
