ROAD RUNNER VASANTH!!

Our fellow member & Cricket sub-committee member Mr. Vasanth Gopal (M.No.1610) completed a full marathon(42kms) recently at Hyderabad. As many as 3000 people participated in this foot race. In a candid chat with Cricket & Entertainment sub-committee member Mr. Saravan Krishna, Vasanth said,The course was brutal with many flyovers; compounded by heavy downpour and squally head winds. This was my fourth marathon. This was my toughest race so far, since due to the rains my muscles had got cramped by the 15 th Km. I decided to give up by the half way mark ( 21 km). After reaching the 21 km mark I decided that I will attempt to reach the 30 km mark and then take stock of the situation. By the time I reached the 30 km mark my legs were really aching and refusing to budge. The last 12 km was just mind over matter. I just didnt want to give up. I just gathered all my inner

strength and with grit and effort I crossed the finish line. He ran his first marathon in Gurgaon in Dec 5th 2010. His second marathon was in Bangalore ( The Midnight Bangalore Marathon)in Dec 12th 2010 itself and his third marathon was in January 16th 2011 in Mumbai( Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon).Within a period of 45 days he ran three marathon races. In addition he has run more than a dozen half marathon races thus far. The marathon is a long-distance running event with an official distance of 42.195 kilometres, that is usually run as a road race. The event was instituted in commemoration of the fabled run of the Greek soldier Pheidippides, a messenger from the Battle of Marathon (the namesake of the race) to Athens. Kudos to Vasanth!!!

FRACTIONS USED BY ANCIENT TAMIL

In our conversations, we, Tamils, use words denoting fractions very frequently without batting an eyelid. A Tamil goldsmith will assure his client, ,k;kp msntDk; FiwahJ(immi alavaenum kurayathu) meaning not a fraction less. Here, the word ,k;kp (immi) is the Tamil word for the fraction 1/2150400 4.6502976190476190476190476190476e-07. In ayurvedic and sidda medicines the naattu vaithiyar (country doctor) might give instructions to his assistant to add mQ mst[ ghjurk; (aNu alavu padharasam) meaning an atom sized mercury. Here the word mQ (aNu) is the Tamil word for the fraction 1/165580800 6.0393475572047000618429189857761e09. The word aNu, which means Atom, is used very frequently by the Tamils to denote very minute portions or particles. Now, I wonder why the ancient Tamils had such names for these particular fractions. The samallest fraction to be named being nju;j;Jfs; (thaertthugal) which is 1/2323824530227200000000 4.3032508995084501477534881372607e-22 I am not able to fathom the underlying reason for the Tamils to use such minute fractions and name them too. I read somewhere that the only place where such minute fractions are used nowadays is in NASA. Here is the list that I gathered of fractions used by the ancient Tamils :

Being idle is very hard work because everyone is against you- Oscar Wilde

Beauty is only skin deep, and the world is full of thin skinned people.- Richard Armour
Club news contunies on pg no 33

Director: Anurag Basu Cast: Ranbeer Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Ileana D Cruz It is funny, it is unique and it breaks all the traditional barriers of Bollywood cinema. The poignantly funny Barfi emerges as a new trend altogether, difficult to slot under any hitherto known genre. Barfi is the story of unconditional love, the pursuit of happiness and finding contentment. Set in a retro milieu among the chilly climes of Darjeeling, Barfi plays like a melodious record on a gramophone. Murphy (Ranbir), whose name metamorphoses into Barfi thanks to the locals, is a deaf and mute boy who is in search of the one. His quest ends with Shruti (Ileana) or so he ecstatically assumes. Alas! Shruti leaves him heartbroken and gets married to a perfect man, a man with sound sensory faculties but totally devoid of emotions. After this heartbreak, the still to heal hero is devastated when his father falls ill and as a bizarre plan, determines to kidnap his childhood sweetheart, the severely autistic Jhillmill (Priyanka). The two embark on an adventure, stopping at nothing except maybe to catch a butterfly or two. When Shruti finds the duo, their destinies get entwined and the rest is lost in a triangular chaos. The climax leaves you teary eyed but in a good way. Ranbir and Priyanka are heart wrenchingly dazzling as protagonists battling different disabilities yet who are much more able and honest than any normal person in conveying their feelings. Ileana lends perfect support. The brilliant photography imparts an aura of a quaint Victorian village to the environs. The music is mediocre but certainly adds to the charm. Barfi talks about love and the baggage that comes with relationships. The movie represents freedom for some and indifference for others who are not taught to be impulsive. Although filled with brilliance and spontaneity, Barfi is not your run-of-the-mill mass entertainer. Yet it symbolises all that is lacking in Indian cinema today.

Director: Madhur Bhandarkar Cast: Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda Bhandarkars clichd formula of portraying the meteoric rise and equally disastrous fall of his female protagonists is showing alarming signs of jadedness. And his penchant to throw in every single bit of fodder he has collected as part of his research is becoming infuriatingly juvenile. Like in Page 3, Corporate and Fashion, in Heroine too the viewers are subjected to a slew of scandals, gossips and whatnots in the name of showing them a ringside view of the big bad world of films, but which in the end, leaves them utterly confused. The plot revolves around Mahi Arora (Kareena), a super heroine, whose troubled childhood, illness (bipolar disorder, if you will) and hopeless relationships makes her the perfect fodder for the fanatic paparazzi. Her strained romantic relationship with the much married superstar Aryan Khanna (Rampal) also takes a toll on her psyche. No amount of glamorous flicks and glittering Page 3 parties can stop her from fading into oblivion as her messed up affairs and her age catch up with her with alacrity. In a desperate bid to get back among the A listers, Mahi uses every trick in the book, including acting in an art film, making a small budget movie, having an affair with a cricketer (Hooda) and leaking her sex tapes for publicity. Nothing can stem her decline and in an attempt to get back her individuality and identity Mahi quits the industry which had proved to be both her angel and her nemesis. Following award winning stories like Chandni Bar and Fashion, Bhandarkars most ambitious project to portray the reality behind the camera fails miserably. His attempt to show every facet of a movie stars life was indeed a bad strategy. The music (Salim Sulaiman) is mediocre. Halkat Jawaani is not a patch on Chikni Chameli, Munni Badnaam and other item numbers of its ilk. The men in the movie are almost wooden and have nothing new to offer. In the end, Heroine belongs to its heroine. As the loony, moody, misunderstood and emotional actress, Kareena is brilliant. Comparisons are odious but one cannot imagine anyone among her peers who could have pulled off the complex portrayal so well. And she looks drop dead gorgeous in the edgy outfits and unique styling. Heroine is a onetime watch only for Bebo fans.

Tri-Colour Fusilli Pasta with Mascarpone Tomato Sauce

Ingredients: 1 16-ounce package fusilli pasta, store-bought 4 cups Brandywine tomatoes, or any other Heirloom or grape wine tomatoes 2 cloves garlic, crushed 1 shallot, thinly sliced 1 small yellow onion, cut in wedges 1 teaspoon sherry vinegar 1 cup mascarpone cheese 2 tablespoons walnut oil 1 tablespoon unsalted butter 1 teaspoon fleur de sel (sea salt) 2 tablespoons salt 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns, freshly ground 3 sprigs sweet basil Method: For the tomato sauce: Slice the Brandywine tomatoes in half. Grease a baking sheet with oil. Place the tomatoes skin side down. Add the onion wedges. Season with salt and pepper. Add the whole sprigs of basil and sherry vinegar. Drizzle about 1 tablespoon of walnut oil. Bake for 45 minutes at 375F. Let the tomatoes cool for a few minutes. Try to remove and discard all the skin of the tomatoes. In a food processor, blend all the basil and tomatoes into a smooth sauce. For the fusilli: Bring about 5 quarts* of water to a boil. Add the pasta, bring back to a boil then immediately lowerthe heat to a gentle boil. This ensures the pasta is cooked all the way through evenly. Cook the pasta for about 12 minutes. Salt the water half way through the cooking process (it will bring out the natural flavour of the pasta and the pasta will be more tender) and keep stirring every now and then so that the pasta does not stick to the bottom. It may take longer than the cooking time that is written on the box. When the pasta is cooked (cooked inside and out but still in shape and firm), reserve about 1/3 cup to 1/2 cup of pasta water and drain the pasta (do NOT rinse). In a large pan, heat about 1 tablespoon of walnut oil. Add the minced garlic. Cook until it is slightly golden. Add the sliced shallot. Cook until it is golden. Add the fusilli pasta and butter. Add about 1/2 the amount of the golden garlic. Toss the pasta

using tongs for about 3-4 minutes. If the pasta starts sticking to the bottom, add a little pasta water. Transfer to a large serving platter. For the mascarpone sauce: In the same large pan, add mascarpone and the tomato sauce. Cover and cook for another 2 minutes. Season with fleur de sel and pepper. Assembly time: Serve the dish family-style. Use a large serving platter for the fusilli pasta; pour the mascarpone tomato sauce over the top. Garnish with more sweet basil or fresh cilantro. * 1 quart = 4 cups

The rapidly fame gaining vinotherapy is also referred to as Oenotherapy, Veno-terapia and Venotherapy in different parts of the world. In India its simply known as Wine Therapy, a crme de la crme extravagance for those who want to pamper themselves.
Wine therapy is a detox treatment that takes the health benefits of wine to a new level. Many are aloof from what the therapy has to offer. Amongst the other enticements your spa has on its list, chardonnay peel and sauvignon massage are the latest epidermal inducements. Adding a new definition to the French irony of healing the body with wine, vinotherapy is certainly a signature treatment in the spas. the age old benefits of wine It helps in reducing cardiovascular health risks if taken moderately. Grape skin has a chemical called resveratrol known to have cardio and chemo protective effects. A small quantity of wine is also known to decrease the risk of lung cancer and Alzheimers disease. Now add anti ageing properties to the ever growing list of benefits. Wine remains a favourite drink holding a lot of historic importance. From a social drink to a limerick to camaraderie, a complement to scrumptious cuisine or another cup for the winebibbers, wine has its own standards to hold. Lots of researches confirm that besides being good for health it also holds a plethora of benefits to regain youthful looks. Having originated in a chateau in France where tons of grape skin and seed were simply discarded from grape crushing led to Joseph Vercauteren, a local pharmacologist, coordinating with the Cathiard family and starting spa vinotherapy. European spas are capitalizing on wine-based products for anti-aging treatment. Besides the traditional Red, wines concocted locally from fruits and herbs like fennel seeds, cardamom, apples and apricots are also used as innovative and alternative wine facial treatment. why Vinotherapy? Theoretically, the fundamental nature of the therapy lies in the essence of the grape. The phytochemicals present in grapes detoxify the body, augment improved blood circulation and reduce water retention apart from warding off those wrinkles. The myriad treatments offered by any wellness centre under vinotherapy pack quite a punch. Grape seed oil or grape seeds are rich in Vitamin E and polyphenols. These are precious for the skin as they help maintain low cholesterol levels and act as a natural defence mechanism against pollution. Grapevine is rich in resveratrol which protects the grapes from the harsh UV rays making them look healthy. These grape vines

why not Vinotherapy? Being the latest and loaded with benefits the therapy is more recognized for its anti-aging effects. However be prepared to have deep pockets to shell out on this luxury. Any service under vinotherapy could vary from 90-150 euros calling for two sessions a month depending on the extent of damage to the skin. The metros in India have these services offered only at exclusive spas or select star hotels. The mid segment salons offer Vinic treatments with commercially prepared ream base, so the cost could be as low as ` 1500 3000 for a facial or body massage. This however makes the service as just another option on the menu card, depriving you of the complete effects of the real therapy. when used in skin treatments work wonders in restoring skin elasticity and increasing cell multiplication. They help increase collagen production to sagging skin. The therapy is believed to exert more antioxidants than that of Vitamin- E, resulting in younger looking skin hence topping the chart of anti-aging treatments. The polyphenol rich red grape virgin juice is used for antioxidant effect in spas. Believe it or not, grape must led to patenting of wine by-products. The richness of acid and sugar in grape must acts as an excellent moisturizer. Wine acts as a revitaliser and in a facial, helps improve blood circulation and reduce wrinkles. A wine bath for muscle relaxation is like a whole course meal. what you should opt for Vinotherapy has a huge platter of offerings. Considering the huge price tag grape treatment carries, wine therapy has its range of rip offs too, so beware. Wine bath - do not worry, non-alcoholic or dessert wine is made use of for this soak, along with grape must, so you do not look like caramelized beef. Complemented with a resveratrol pill or a glass of wine (pill is not used in Indian spa however complemented with in-house drinks). Of course, each spa maintains its secret ingredients to go along. This is a complicated procedure so it is best left to the professionals. A service at the spa could cost you at least 150 euros (`10,000). It also depends on the quality of grapes used (red or green) Vinic facial- A completely relaxing treatment complemented well with flower essences and

grape seed oil for smoothening your skin, followed by exfoliants and mud packs will leave you looking younger. A vinic facial would cost you 80 90 euros (`6,000) depending on the type of wine used. Merlot wine has caught the imagination of the ever-growing female clientele as a potent therapeutic these days. Body exfoliation- A full body exfoliation would be a sixty minute long soak in grape skin and seed pip. Unless your whole body needs repair and polish this is not a highly recommended service or treatment. An hour long seating on crushed and sharp pips is not for delicate darlings. Its mostly an add-on treatment clubbed with facials or bath. is wine therapy good for all skin types? Wine or grape must might not suit all skin types. Some people are even allergic to grapes

or wine. But resourcefulness and techniques are the keywords in the business. The therapy is best suited for oily skin, reducing the chances of acne. A concoction of aloe vera for oily skin and almonds for dry skin therapeutically relaxes the skin muscle and acts as an excellent antioxidant. A healthy skin demands cleansing, toning and nourishing. If not cared for, your skin could add unwanted years to your looks. Your skin needs to breathe and absorb sufficient vitamins, minerals and enzymes in order to respire. Wine acts as a medium to facilitate the breathing process and helps beautify your skin and body. So if your favourite salon has introduced vinotherapy you should go try out the benefits of it all for that ever radiant kissable skin.

foods you Can indulge in when you diet

You finally get down to convincing yourself that it is about time you got down to business, and you find yourself staring at a fridge filled with delectable delights - all that you precisely wanted to avoid. Sounds familiar? Well, we have good news. Diets dont have to be strict. (yaaay!) Experts actually, are of the opinion that the more your list of personal, off limits, foodie no-nos grow; the more prone you are to ditch your diet and binge. So, what really is the key to weight loss? Mind your ps and qs, (watch portions and choose quality) seems to be the mantra for a slim figure. Heres a list of forbidden foods that are typically dismissed by dieters but, which can actually help you slim down.

DECODING DIETS

OCT 2012 | 29

Pasta
Eat it because: The high fluid content of pasta is known to keep those hunger pangs at bay as it keeps you feeling full longer than usual. Like bread, pasta too boosts the serotonin level in blood thus helping you avoid overeating. Perfect for eating while on a diet and feeling guilt free, try the pasta with whacky sauces and gravies. To bulk up your dish a notch higher, try choosing whole grain varieties of pasta and add grilled chicken or lots of veggies to it. Go indulge! Serving basics: A cup of cooked pasta, roughly equal to the size of about an ice cream scoop is filling enough for one meal.

Potatoes
Eat it because: Out of all the vegetables, this one seems to be the most misunderstood. Guaranteed that once doused in sour cream or fried, these are not going to help you lose weight but we bet you didnt know that once boiled or baked, they are just about as healthy as eating a weeks worth of greens. Potatoes are also known to form resistant starch (formed when portions of starch in the potatoes crystallize when chilled); a fiber that actually burns the fat. Serving basics: A healthy serving of potato is about the size of a fist.

Cheese
Eat it because: Usually right at the top of your no-no list, it is indeed a myth that cheese fattens you up before you can say diet. Cheese is in reality, a great source of calcium, which burns not only calories, but fat as well. If you dont get your daily dose of calcium, you could actually trigger off the production of a hormone that causes the body to store fat! Eating calcium rich food works way better than eating calcium supplements and cheese sure is loaded with calcium (about 200 mg per ounce). Serving basics: Be sure to stick to two ounce portions. Choose the light varieties for not just great health benefits, but half the calories.

30 | OCT 2012

Bread
Eat it because: Bread is a rich source of carbohydrates that is known to boost brain chemicals and it actually curbs overeating. Carbs are essential in producing serotonin, a neurotransmitter that promotes feelings of comfort and satisfaction. Serotonin levels need to be optimal to make you feel calm and happy ladies; which mean lesser tantrums and fewer cravings! The healthiest breads are those containing whole grains. Great for the body and low on the calories, brown breads and other whole grain breads are the perfect food for any diet conscious eater. Serving basics: One serving equals roughly one slice of bread.

dark ChoColate
Eat it because: Simply because it is so intensely satisfying! Face it or not, most of us experience cravings and chocolate is right at the top of the most-craved for list of foods. Little known fact: Dark chocolate is actually good for your heart. They lower the blood pressure and cholesterol levels in the body. Dark varieties of chocolate are not only tastier but are much more satisfying than white chocolate. Watch out for those portions though, too much of it can just throw those rigorous hours of working on your diet right out the window. Slowly savoring one or two squares of a high-quality dark chocolate bar will satisfy a craving more than wolfing down M&Ms in front of the TV. Serving basics: One or two squares of high quality dark chocolate can satisfy a craving more than an entire bag of M&Ms!

Album - North Band - Matchbox Twenty

After almost a decade the pop band, formed in the mid 90s, is back with an album which is sure to make their fans sway to its tunes. Rob Thomas soulful voice and swirls of the guitar which earned him brownie points on the billboard for his previous album are back again with a bang. English Town starts on a soft note followed by an amazing guitar piece. Put your hands up is a dance number, which follows a contrasting combination of dark lyrics and upbeat music. She is so mean which speaks of a girl with a wicked sense of humour charms with its edgy style of music and rhythmic drumbeats. How long and Radio fail to make the same impression, nevertheless they are eminently listenable. North is like a familiar acquaintance from the past, to be heard over a couple of cocktails in the magical hours of twilight when nostalgia invades the mind with its unrelenting strides.

Chartbusters of the month

Halkat Jawaani Movie- Heroine Catchy and foot tapping it might be but Halkat Jawaani lacks the masaaledaar chutzpah of Sheela and Munni. Ordinary lyrics and even more ordinary music by Salim Sulaiman make this item song a very thanda affair. Surprisingly, Sunidhis vocals sound jaded too. Only Kareenas sensual gyrations and come hither expressions lend the song the required oomph, thus bringing into question its credibility as a standalone soundtrack sans visual appeal. In My City ft. will.i.am Artist: Priyanka Chopra Finally, the gorgeous actors much awaited single is out and pleasantly enough, it almost lives up to its pre-release hype. The pulsating rhythm and heavy beats are probably in place to disguise the minor flaws in Priyankas vocals but they also lend a unique energy to the song. The number has a great vibe and for a first time singer, Pee Cee has done a fabulous job. The wannabe fake accent could have been done away with, though. It sounds like she is trying too hard too early to model herself on some of the reigning pop queens of the US. Produced by RedOne and Brian Kennedy, the veterans of L.A town, In my city also features multitalented rapper will.i.am. Disco Deewane Movie: Student of the year Remember Disco Deewane, the cult song of the 80s, sung by Pakistani singer Nazia Hassan? KJO has brought it out in a fresh avatar in 2012 in his production Student of the Year. Music directors Vishal and Shekar wave their magic wands and Benny Dayal and Sunidhi Chauhan add the necessary flare to the song by blending their vocals with the silken chords of Nazias. A perfect party track, the music and lyrics are fun and upbeat.

Calendar for year 1752 (United States)

If you think Im joking, you may search it on Google and see it for yourself. In Case you havent noticed, 11 days are simply missing from the month. Heres the explanation: This was the month during which England shifted from the Roman Julian Calendar to the Gregorian calendar. A Julian year was 11days longer than a Gregorian year. So the King of England ordered 11 days to be wiped off the face of that particular month. (A king could order anything, couldnt he?) So the workers worked for 11 days less that month. But got paid for the whole month. Thats how the concept of paid leave was born. Hall the King!!! In the Roman Julian Calendar. April used to be the first month of the year; but the Gregorian Calendar observed January as the first month. Event after shifting to the Gregorian calendar, many people refused to give up old traditions and continued celebrating 1st April as the New Years Day. When simple orders didnt work, the king finally issued a royal dictum; which stated that those who celebrated 1st April as the New Years Day would be labeled as fools. From then on, 1st April become April fools Day. History is really interesting, isnt it? Dr.S.Natarajan (M.No.876)
A mans ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties no religious way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death.-Albert Einstein

A perfect blast off !

which left us wondering if the take off would be as scheduled. The 52 hr countdown had already begun. My nephew, Ravi a compulsive photographer with his sophisticated camera, regularly accompanies me to watch all rocket take offs from ISRO. There was a light drizzle as we left the city, early in the morning. We were pleasantly surprised by crowd turn-out! Across the water front a mud road leads to fishing villages around ISRO. Hundreds of people with families had made it to the spot and were eagerly waiting for that moment with bated breath. As the zero hour approached the weather cleared! There was also a battery of professional photographers / enthusiasts with their long range cameras on stands wondering from which of the two launch pads the rocket will take off from. While the people were on rooftops, Prime Minister watched the historic event from ISROs mission control room, as the PSLV rockets latest edition hurtled away from earth, carrying the French SPOT-6 remote sensing satellite and the Japanese PROITERES micro-satellite as payload, blasted off from the launch pad at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. About a minute after leaving the Earth, we heard a long rumbling thunder the sonic boom as rocket passed the speed of sound. A sonic boom is the sound associated with the shock waves created by an object traveling through the air faster than the speed of sound. Sonic booms generate enormous amounts of sound energy, sounding much like an explosion. On a clear day one can see the sound forming ripples during the release of sonic boom. One must experience it at least once in life time! It is awesome. If you ever get a chance to watch a rocket launch, take it. You never know what you might see or hear! On Sunday the 9th of September, on a cloudy morning , at 9.52 minutes, Indias Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C21 lifted off with a deafening roar and thick orange flame, powering its upward spiraling journey, amid much cheers and claps from hundreds of viewers around us, watching from across the estuary. Located some 80km north of Chennai, Sriharikota hosts the Satish Dhawan Space Centre from where ISRO carries of all the launches of its rockets that put satellites into orbit. Two days prior to the launch date, Chennai city and suburbs had experienced heavy rain fall,

Coorg
Coorg [also known as Kodagu] is an administrative district in Karnataka. Located on the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats, Coorg is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. This famous tourist attraction is also famous for coffee and spices.
Holidays and leisure trips should be a break from ordinary routine; a change and not a replica of what we do in the evenings and at weekends. On the contrary, what if we wanted to follow our daily routine like playing badminton, snooker and workout, even during leisure trips? Coorg Sports Club, an affiliation of Alumni club, fits the bill. It offers the perfect venue for sports and recreation. This elite club is in Ponnampet, about 90km from Mysuru. The fiveAcre lush green property has an array of facilities that include party hall, sports lounge bar, badminton court, snooker, carom, table tennis, cards, gymnasium and guest chamber with four furnished rooms RiVeTiNg NAgARHole Initiated by two travel enthusiasts Vivek and Subramaniam, a tour plan was drafted. reservations for travel and accommodation were pre-arranged. We took the overnight train to Mysore and thereafter a cab to the club at Ponnampet. Instead of heading straight using the main highway, we chose the alternate road via Nagarhole National Park and Irupu falls. Worth the extra time and distance, of course. We wended our way through the forest, thrilled and excited to see wildlife. Spotted deer, wild elephants, jackals, wild boar and black cobra were out just on the edge of the road. The excitement and experience of seeing animals in their naturalistic habitats is always special and unforgettable. Our day was made! We reached Irupu Falls by noon. Irupu Falls is situated amidst thick forest and offers great views of the nature and surround hills. We spent

an hour soothing our pain in the exquisite waterfall. After having lunch, we proceeded to Ponnampet. The rich green lawn greeted us as we entered the club. Ponnampets altitude is much lesser than Madikeri, Coorgs district headquarters. Hence, the weather here is always moderate and pleasant than cold. After checking in, we spent the evening in the club premise playing badminton and relaxing. Cozy rooms, courteous staff, delicious food, great amenities and the beautiful surroundings couldnt have asked for more. The second day, with modest sprinkling of rain, was apt for short trips and indoor activities. We visited Tibetan Monastery and Dubare, where we went for a boat ride in Cauvery. Though Dubare is quiet famous for white water river rafting we did not go rafting as the rain started pouring then. On the way back, we bought few things that are popular in Coorg like spices, coffee and honey. Woke up on day three of our trip, we spent a quiet day at the club - relaxing and relishing the beautiful weather. Though we had a plan to visit Madikeri and TalaCauvery on that day,

we dropped it due to time constraints. Later in the afternoon we started to Mysuru. When we entered the city, we enjoyed the grandeur of Mysore Palace lit up with sparkling lights en route to Railway Station. An excellent trip on all accounts! TRaVel TiPS Bookings: The reservations for both travel and accommodation should be made a month before the trip. There are only four guest rooms in Coorg Sports Club. Club Rules: Visit the website for the club rules [especially, the ones regarding dress code] as it follows them very stringently. local Travel: Book a cab from Mysuru for the entire trip. It will be more convenient and flexible for local travel. Cost: The cost of the trip works to ` 5,000 per person for a group of five. The cost includes return fare in Second AC train, local travel, food and accommodation for 3 days and 2 nights.
