Proposal for:

Community Development Digital Literacy

COMMUNITY CYBERDAY
DEVELOPED BY CHRYSALIS CAMPAIGN, ING.

WHATISDIGITALLITERACY COMMUNITYDEVELOPMENT?
One of the hurdles to introducing technology into schools and communities is the lack of understanding and support of the computer program across the community. This creates a long list of problems from hoarding ICT and stealing technology to lack of parental and business support. For the first time, any school or NGO can educate all critical layers of the local community at once. We will go beyond the training of how a laptop works and into the practical uses of technology for farmers, entrepreneurs, educators and community leaders. We will demonstrate the why it is import before the how to use technology.

EDUCATINGONECOMMUNITYATATIME Community collaborative digital literacy will educate towns with new strategies about how global resources and collaboration can aid dramatically in the development of youth, businesses and communities. These workshops will also prepare the way for Microsoft Digital Literacy courses. They will not only reinforce that the Digital Literacy program objectives are met but also yield fertile ground for digital skills to be put to good use. Towns must learn tangible reasons for the why and the what for before embracing digital skills.
Five Community Development Digital Literacy workshops: Week One African youth: Youth empowerment with Internet resources and collaboration. Community Leaders: How to leverage Internet resources and collaboration to manage and protect your community. Week Two Microsoft Digital Literacy Course (12 hour program) Small business/telecentres: How to use Internet resources and collaboration to grow your business. Educators and NGOs: How to use Internet resources, collaboration teaching methods in the classroom and the field. For Farming Community: How to leverage Internet resources and collaboration to improve farm productivity.
