THE EFFECT OF CYBERCRIME LAW ON BUSINESS In the Industry some of Company having an effect of cybercrime law like ON Digital

and IT BPO Industry in the Philippines. No matter how hard we try to unite everybodys opinion with regard to the Anti-Cyber Crime Law, There will always be two sides of the story. The law signed by Pres. Benigno Noynoy Aquino few weeks ago gained a lot of positive and negative feedbacks among digital media practitioners, BPO professionals, internet marketing professionals in the Philippines and common Filipino netizens around the country. Essentially the law seeks to castigate cyber-crime offenses such as spamming, identity theft, hacking, libel and online pornography. According to yahoo.com, the law is categorized into three: (1) offenses against the confidentiality, integrity and availability of computer data and systems; (2) computer-related; or (3) content-related offenses. However, some media groups are still not satisfied about the tusk of the newly implemented law that is said to prohibit their freedom of expression, particularly on the provision of online libel. In a news article published by gma network news.com, several journalist organization led by the Alab ng Mamahayag (ALAM), said that the objectives of the Cybercrime Law were not compelling enough in terms of freedom of expression, of speech, and of the press and the right to liberty. On an interview with philstar.com, The Center for Media Freedom & Responsibility stressed how this law would affect internet regulations among Filipino netizens and their restricted mindset of the countrys leader. On the other hand, Mr. Benedict Hernandez, Business Process Association of the Philippines (BPAP) President said that, anti-cybercrime law is seen as a potential gauge

for the progressive growth of the IT and BPO industry since the new law adds another layer of protection against theft and fraud for the industry.

At present time, the controversial law is still a hot issue. There are ongoing online debates, discussions and opinions about its vital role in regulating the cybercrimes here in the Philippines. As allies and critics speak out their fearless opinions about the provisions of this law, it is also a challenge for everybody to overcome too much internet use in order to malign gossip or even use it for their own selfish desires. And also Society loses when investing in new jails rather than paying employees higher wages. A study has proven that society pays over twice the average household income for one inmate's incarceration (see Resources below). This means that instead of that money being invested in prevention through higher wages or better education, taxpayers pay more to keep criminals safe and well fed. Parents have also felt the sting of crime by changing the ways their children play. It is less likely for children in present days to play outside because of the general unrest of unpredictable and heinous crimes. Alarm systems are on rise for the average American household, as well as paranoid and depressive behavior associated with the effects of crime. Besides the obvious unrest that is experienced by citizens of a society that has crime, it is also felt in the pockets of tax payers. New prisons and jails, programs for criminals and money for more police protection all come directly and indirectly out of the pocket of taxpayers in America. Some neighborhoods even involve themselves in programs such as neighborhood watches to prevent crimes. In areas where crime is prevalent residents

notice direct effects in terms of depreciated housing, education and job availability in the surrounding economy.

There are all sorts of different crimes. Consider house burglary-somebody breaks into your house and takes your money, television, radio, etc. You start with loss of goods or treasured possessions. You home may be damaged, so might your peace of mind and the rest of your family/friends. You may have insurance and you may get some money back. But your premiums will increase and you have to buy replacements. Perhaps you feel you need to upgrade your security systems. There are all sorts of losses involvedfinancial, emotional, time, energy etc... You may be visited by the police who may need details of stolen items. You may even go to court and give evidence if the criminal is caught. These are more effects in an ever wider circle of effects.
