E Connect the PC to the SUMA board (from COM1 or COM2 to BTS Terminal connector) with the
BTS_TE cable

At this step your BTS Terminal is not connected to your BTS, you need to configure the software before.
In the Standalone mode, some menu options are not active and appear grayed-out in the menus. All the options
are only available in Online mode.

E Log closes the existing log file or opens a new one.
E Open opens an existing log file or the log file collection, when the terminal is in Standalone mode.

During the first using you need to set information such as:
E the appropriate COM Port (COM1, COM2)
E the Baud rate 115 200 (reduce in case of connection problem)

terminal sessions.

An SBL is identified by the following parameters :
Unit type : Gives the SBL grouping inside the BSS. The following items are allowed:

Unit number : Identifies a unit replicated several times in the same BSS. For instance, a BSS can include up
to 255 BTSs. The unit number of the SBL having BTS as SBL type is : 1... 255. The unit number of SBL
having BSC as SBL type is always 1.
SBL type : This is the name of the SBL (e.g.:BTS or BSC).
SBL number : Identifies a SBL replicated several times in the same BSS.
SBL subnumber : Represents the number of a SBL which is part of another SBL.

Unit number : Identifies a unit replicated several times in the same BSS. For instance, a BSS can include up

Rack : identifies the rack with a rack number
Shelf : identifies the shelf in the rack.
Slot : identifies the slot in the shelf.
An RIT is also identified by an RIT type which defines the RIT function. The RIT type is used by the maintenance
personal when replacing a failing unit. An RIT is only replaceable by another RIT which has the same RIT type or
by an RIT which has a compatible RIT type.

BTS LMT Alarm Message Parameters
Depending on the type of alarm and in which window it is viewed, an alarm message contains all or most of the parameters
listed in this section.
Message Identity The identity number given to the alarm message stored in the database.
Event Time The time the message was issued at its source or received at the BTS LMT.
Classification The characteristics of the alarm, consisting of:
Alarm Class name and number - as shown in the Alarm Dictionary
E Class 1: CLK Alarms
E Class 2: OMU Alarms
E Class 3: SW-AN Alarms
E ..
E Class 11: BTS-TRANS Alarms
Alarm Type name and number - as shown in the Alarm Dictionary
E Communication - a problem with a procedure or process used to convey information from one point to another in the
network.
E Quality of Service - degradation in the quality of service in the network.
E Processing Error - a software or processing fault.
E Equipment - an equipment fault.
E Environmental - a problem in the enclosure containing the equipment.
Alarm Number - dependent on the Alarm Class and Type. See the appropriate dictionary entry for the valid alarm numbers for a
particular alarm
Alarm Condition - has one of the following values:
E begin - alarm on. For fatal failures, the affected SBL changes state to FLT or FOS. For non-fatal failures, the affected SBL
changes state to FIT
E end - alarm off. Indicates the successful recovery of the system. The affected SBL may not change state if other alarms related
to the SBL are on
E event - occurrence of anomaly. No action is required unless it occurs frequently. Event alarms are of short duration and the
affected SBL does not change state. The system retry/recovery mechanism has cleared the fault.
