It has been six or seven months sinceI looked at a power upgrade. I have nally had it done. Same as Brenden. I haven't had it dynoed yet but can notice the extra power down low, I can't see any diferance at high revs, no extra top speed. I live in Bunbury WA and can travel up the Collie hill and hold 7KPH faster than i could. On the beach it is so much better and can run with higher tyre pressure, also high range. I managed to conquer a sand dune that has beaten me before, it appears to have more low down grunt. I must admit the sand has a bit more moisture in it now from when I played last time but it is early stages yet and i can notice the difference. I haven't got the bill yet, not a cheap exercise. I meant to mention thatI heard that all the engines that arrived at the OKA facory were Dyno'd and not many came up to spec but the best ones were put in the coaches and the less powered ones were put in the cab chassis. Ewart -May 18, 2010 at 9:22 PM

Got the bill yet Ewart? I'm going to get mine pulled apart next week to see what shape the turbo is in (220K km)... then I have to decide whether to do the intercooler thing too. Did you get a water-to-air intercooler? Brand? I see Brendan Eblen also put on a larger Garrett turbo. -Hal

Hal,I had a lot of work done so the bill is huge but it looks like he spent 16 hours to t the new turbo and intercooler, he also had to get a few extra parts as he plumbed it a bit different to Brenden's. It is the same turbo and intercooler as Brenden ( air to air). If he did it again it would be easier for him. He is very thorough. I will be out of touch for a few days but hope to get it on the dyno in a week or so and may be try and work out what the turbo /intercooler cost me. Ewart

I've started collecting up intercooler info in the hope of being better informed, but it looks like everybody does it differently! Peter Furlong's and Tim Forsyth's are in the Mods & Repairs section here. There's also a good overview article at ExplorOz. -Hal

Pick the OKA up tomorrow and have it booked in for a dyno in the arvo so should be able to post the results soon.

WellI got the oka back and had it dynoed. the torque is up by about 5% and HP is down by 5%. the fuel to air ratio went up to 30, my mechanic talked to the turbo guys and they said that it is impossible. I took it back to the mechanic and he chacked a few things and all was ok. They think the reading is wrong. He cranked the fuel up to 15psi boost and it has a heap of down low torque (seat of pants) no diferance up top, 115 kpr max. Went up Collie hill at 70 kpr thats 6 kays faster.(12Ks all up)may get another dyno in perth latter. It has cost me around 6K
