To foster participation that reects our company values, we offer the following ofcial guidelines as a resource for _______ staff involved in our social media efforts. All who contribute to social media on behalf of ___ are expected to understand and to follow these guidelines. We acknowledge the ongoing developments in social media and will update our guidelines as new technologies and tools require.

Broadly dened social media includes a family of Interactive Communication Technologies (ICT) which allow users to interact with each other in some way by sharing information (personal and public), les, images, and videos. Social media platforms include blogs, wikis, communities or social networks, message boards, content sharing websites, social bookmarking sites, and text messaging.

Social Media Guidelines


Social media can be an asset to our whole company if we exercise personal responsibility. A consist approach to the way we all engage in social media helps build trust between us and clients, suppliers, and the general public who also engage in social media. With this goal of building trust in mind, weve developed guidelines that should encourage responsible communication without hindering open and free participation. Please use the following guidelines to direct your engagement in all ___________ related engagement with social media platforms.

1. Take Responsibility - You are personally responsible for your activity and content in various
social media platforms.

2. Be Who You Are - Write in your own voice and from your own perspective based on your

3. Add a Disclaimer - When posting content youve created to blogs, please include a disclaimer
that reads something like, The information posted on this site is my personal opinion and does not necessarily represent the position, strategy or opinion of ___________. Only those ofcially designated by ___________ have the authorization to speak on behalf of the company.

4. Copyrights & Intellectual Property - Please respect the copyright, fair use and nancial
disclosure laws. When quoting another blog, please inform them and provide a link when possible. If posting music, photography, or video, please use something from the public domain or consult a copyright-free website or a website with Creative Commons Commercial provisions (see http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses).

5. Respect Condentiality - Please respect proprietary ___________ information and


documents, and avoid distributing or referencing any information considered condential. If you have any questions, ask your supervisor before posting.

6. Respect Privacy - Respect the privacy of your co-workers as well as our clients, our suppliers,

Treat your audience with respect. Sometimes emotions can air in social media spaces and people may say things that are offensive and inciting. Youre expected to remain above the fray and consistently demonstrate exemplary behavior. Avoid inappropriate language and topics that may be considered objectionable or inammatory.

8. Be Professional - The same professional conduct expected in the workplace is expected

9. Share Expert Information - You can add value to the social media conversation by providing

11. Be Honest - When you write content or comments, be honest about you are, who you
represent, and what you write. If you make a mistake, admit it. If you alter an old post, indicate that youve done so.

12. Pause Before Publishing - When you post content or comments be sure to pause before
publishing and double check what you wrote. Make sure your grammar is good, words are spelled correctly, your information is accurate, and your attitude is right.

13. Maintain Your Responsibilities - Your participation in social media should not interfere with
your day to day responsibilities.
