Introduction

The Client is planning to build a process plant in the UK to convert wheat to ethanol (bioethanol) for use as a supplement for automotive fuel. In the process, after removal of the alcohol by distillation, wheat grain solids are removed from the stillage in decanter centrifuges. There is a routine requirement to remove major parts of the centrifuges for maintenance. Because of their significant weight a craneage system is required. 2. Design Requirements

2.1 General Six decanting centrifuges are located in a line on the 8.2m level of the production building. An access well in the floor has been included at one end of the building to give access to ground level. An overhead crane is required to lift centrifuge parts to and from any of the centrifuges, transport them to the access well and down to ground level

2.2 Duty To be able to lift loads of up to 5 tonne To be able to transport loads the length of the decanter hall and lower them to ground level To be operable by one man on the 8.2m level using a pendant controller while walking with the load as it moves The overhead crane will be required to be located at the 15.5m level. The decanting centrifuges are located on the 8.2m level. The crane is required to span a bay width of 12.0m The crane is required to transport the total length of the decanter hall approximately 78m and lower to load to grade Further details of the building showing layout and cross sections are provided on drawings 06226-AA-07-1701 and 1702, copies of which will be provided with this data sheet.

Scope

The Vendor is responsible for the design, procurement, delivery, construction, testing and commissioning of the craneage system The scope of the supply shall include but not be limited to the following equipment: Overhead crane Horizontal support and guide rails Electric hoist with associated drive motor Drive motor(s) for horizontal movement in the X & Y plane Crane level bar conductor electrical supply system Pendant type manual controller All electrical and mechanical equipment required for the safe operation of the crane

The equipment shall comply with all relevant UK and European Legislation, Standards and Codes of Practice. The fitness for purpose of equipment is to be demonstrated using appropriate reference installations. 4. 4.1 General Information Plot Area and Location

Vendor to advise suitable materials of construction based on a plant life of 20 years and experience of similar applications. 4.3 Instrumentation and Control

The vendor is required to provide the following:: - instrumentation for the safe control and monitoring of the specified equipment - safety devices 4.4 Noise Limitation

Maximum of 80 dB(A) at 1 m from any individual noise source.
