India has 28 states and 7 territories, and recognizes 22 official languages spoken across its diverse regions In a country as diverse and complex as India, it is not surprising to find that people here reflect the rich glories of the past, the culture, traditions and values relative to geographic locations and the numerous distinctive manners, habits and food that will always remain truly Indian, according to five thousand years of recorded history.From the eternal snows of the Himalayas to the peninsula of the far South, from the deserts of the West to the humid deltas of the East, from the dry heat and cold of the Central Plateau to the cool forest foothills, Indian lifestyles reflect the geography. The food, clothing and habits of Indian differ in accordance to the place of origin . Indian culture is also about respecting elders, honoring heroes and cherishing love. It is a land of
aspirations, achievements and self reliance. Indian culture has a very high level of tolerance and hence the advent of so many external cultures was not restricted. Adaptation to any culture or embracing a religion was always the democratic culture. Indian history is about war heroes during Indus valley civilization and the initial time when currency was coined. Tradition in India is about values that transcend down generations automatically. These are genetic traits and simplicity is the main ingredient. it is customary to respect elders and touch their feet as to seek their blessings.

Indian cuisine boasts of an immense variety not restricted to just the popularly known curry. In Indian cuisine, food is categorized into six tastes - sweet, sour, salty, spicy, bitter and astringent. A wellbalanced Indian meal contains all six tastes. This principle explains the use of numerous spice combinations and depth of flavor in Indian recipes. The 'Land of Gods' never needs a particular reason to celebrate. Celebration is a fundamental part of every Indian's life. From January to December, every month comes with a particular fair or festival. The Colorful mosaic of Indian festivals and fairs - as diverse as the land, is an eternal expression of the spirit of celebration. Observed with enthusiasm and gaiety, festivals are like gems ornamenting the crown of Indian Culture. They are round the year Festivals in India are characterized by color, gaiety, enthusiasm, prayers and rituals.. Dance, drama, theatre or music, every art is unique in itself. In India, religions, mythology and classical literature form the basis of most of the performing arts.Indian classical dances like Bharatnatyam, Kathakali, Kathak, Manipuri, Odissi and Kuchipudi mainly follow the codes of natya shastra, mythology and classical literature and epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata. Another kind of performing art is theatre. Though the folk theatre prevails in each and every language and region, the professional theatre is popular only in big urban areas or metropolitan cities.
