4th Millennium BCE

Circa 3600 BC - 2800 BC : Climatic deterioration in western Europe and the Sahara. European pollen zone VII contains sub boreal, oak and beech. Glacial advances of the Priora Oscillation, with lower economic prosperity in areas not able to irrigate in the middle east. A few commentators have associated the climate changes of this period with the floods of the Gilgamesh Epic and Noah's Flood of the Book of Genesis. Circa 3100 BCE : The Indus Valley civilization constructs the first advanced system of drainage.

3rd Millennium BCE

2900 BCE : Floods at Shuruppak from horizon to horizon, with sediments in southern Iraq, stretching as far north as Kish and as far south as Uruk, associated with the return of heavy rains in Nineveh and a potential damming of the Karun River to run into the Tigris. This ends the Jemdet-Nasr Period and ushers in the early dynastic period of the Sumerian cultures. Possible association of this late-event with the Biblical Deluge. 2650 BCE : Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh describes vast tracts of cedar forests in what is now southern Iraq. Gilgamesh defies the gods and cuts down the forest, and in return the gods say they will curse Sumer with fire (or possibly drought). By 2100 BCE, soil erosion and salt buildup have devastated agriculture. One Sumerian account states that the "earth turned white [Glacial Era]. Civilization moved north to Babylonia and Assyria. Again, deforestation becomes a factor in the rise and subsequent fall of these civilizations.

That which we find would be of particular interest would be that which superseded the Aztec civilization, that was so ruthlessly destroyed or interrupted by Cortez [1518-1541]. In that preceding this we had rather a combination of sources, or a high civilization that was influenced by injection of forces from other channels, other sources, as will be seen or may be determined by that which may be given. From time as counted in the present we would turn back to 10,600 years before the Prince of Peace came into the land of promise, and find a civilization being disturbed by corruption from within to such measures that the elements join in bringing devastation to a stiff-necked and adulterous people. With the second and third upheavals in Atlantis, there were individuals who left those lands and came to this particular portion then visible. But, understand, the surface was quite different from that which would be viewed in the present. Then, with the leavings of the civilization in Atlantis (in Poseidia, more specific), Iltar - with a group of followers that had been of the household of Atlan, the followers of the worship of the ONE with some ten individuals - left this land Poseidia, and came westward, entering what would now be a portion of Yucatan. And there began, with the activities of the peoples there, the development into a civilization that rose much in the same manner as that which had been in the Atlantean land. Others had left the land later. Others had left earlier. There had been the upheavals also from the land of Mu, or Lemuria, and these had their part in the changing, or there was the injection of their tenets in the varied portions of the land -

which was much greater in extent until the final upheaval of Atlantis, or the islands that were later upheaved, when much of the contour of the land in Central America and Mexico was changed to that similar in outline to that which may be seen in the present. The first temples that were erected by Iltar and his followers were destroyed at the period of change physically in the contours of the land. That now being found, and a portion already discovered that has laid in waste for many centuries, was then a combination of those peoples from Mu, Oz and Atlantis. Hence, these places partook of the earlier portions of that peoples called the Incal; though the Incals were themselves the successors of those of Oz, or Og, in the Peruvian land, and Mu in the southern portions of that now called California and Mexico and southern New Mexico in the United States.

This again found a change when there were the injections from those peoples that came with the division of those peoples in that called the promise land. Hence we may find in these ruins that which partakes of the Egyptian, Lemurian and Oz civilizations, and the later activities partaking even of the Mosaic [Israel] activities. The stones that are circular, that were of the magnetized influence upon which the Spirit of the One spoke to those peoples as they gathered in their service, are of the earliest Atlantean activities in religious service, we would be called today. The altars upon which there were the cleansings of the bodies of individuals (not human sacrifice; for this came much later with the injection of the Mosaic, and those activities of that area), these were later the altars upon which individual activities - that would today be termed hate, malice, selfishness, self-indulgence - were cleansed from the body through the ceremony, through the rise of initiates from the sources of light, that came from the stones upon which the angels of light during the periods gave their expression to the peoples.

The pyramid, the altars before the doors of the varied temple activities, was an injection from the people of Oz and Mu; and will be found to be separate portions, and that referred to in the Scripture as high places of family altars, family gods, that in many portions of the world became again the injection into the activities of groups in various portions, as gradually there were the turnings of the people to the satisfying and gratifying of self's desires, or as the Baal [Baalilal] activities again entered the peoples respecting their associations with those truths of light that came from the gods to the peoples, to mankind, in the earth. With the injection of those of greater power in their activity in the land, during that period as would be called 3,000 years before the Prince of Peacecame, those peoples that were of the Lost Tribes [Solomon], a portion came into the land; infusing their activities upon the peoples from Mu in the southernmost portion of that called America [United States], and then moved on to the activities in Mexico, Yucatan, centralizing that now about the spots where the central of Mexico now stands, or Mexico City. Hence there arose through the age a different civilization, a MIXTURE again. Those in Yucatan, those in the adjoining lands as begun by Iltar, gradually lost in their activities; and came to be that people termed, in other portions of America, the Mound Builders. The temple by Iltar will then rise again. Also there will be the opening of the temple or hall of records in Egypt, and those records that were put into the heart of the Atlantean land may also be found there - that have been kept, for those that are of that group.

Popol Vuh is a collection of mythological narratives of the Post Classic Kiche (Quiche) kingdom of the western Guatemalan highlands. The title translates as "Book of the Community," "Book of Counsel," or more literally as "Book of the People. The foremost features include a creation myth; the epic tale of The Hero Twins (Hunahp and Xbalanqu) and their genealogies. The content expresses the exploits of anthropomorphic ancestors and concludes with a noble genealogy, a declaration of divine right rule. It was originally written in hieroglyphic script long before the Spaniards came to South America. During the Spanish conquest, however, most of the Mayan codices were burned, as the mythology was then passed orally. In 1558, it was written down by a native who knew how to transcribe the Mayan tongue into Latin. In 1701, Father Francisco Ximnez discovered the manuscript in his parish church of Santo Tomas (Chichicastenango) and translated it into Spanish. His translation then was lost for more than a century and rediscovered in 1854, removed from Guatemala's San Carlos University and brought to Europe by Abbott Brasseur de Bourbough. This cleric translated the work into French and sold the original manuscript to a collector named Alfonso Pinart. When Pinart died, his widow sold it to Edward E. Ayer, who brought the book back to America and deposited it in Chicago's Newberry Library.

The Nine Books of Chilam Balam are handwritten (17th to 18th century), named after the Yucatec townships where they originated, preserving a vital tradition of indigenous Maya and early Spanish traditions in tandem. Written in the Yucatec Mayan language in Latin, the manuscripts are attributed to a legendary author named Chilam Balam; the chilam being priests who cited prophecies and balam a common surname meaning Jaguar. The texts contain prophecies concerning the coming of the Spaniards to Yucatn and mention a Chilam Balam as the author. The Chilam Balam are derived primarily from Chumayel, Mani, and Tizimin regions, although others exist. The language and content show that parts of the books date back to the Spanish conquest of the Yucatec kingdoms (15271546), and in some cases, where the language is particularly terse, the books portray hieroglyphic script, and thus seem to depict the pre-conquest era. The manuscript offers the abundance of 18 th century Yucatec-Maya life, whereas the medical texts and chronicles speak factually the mysteries and prognostications of traditional Mayan metaphors. This carries the mythological and ritualistic flavor of the texts presented in a highly complex language of esoteric traditions. Historical portions derive their importance from being the premise of the Aztec/Maya calendar, adapted to a European dating system, as the reconstruction of Post-Classic Yucatec history has then proven to be an arduous task.

Chilam Balam Ixil

The 260 day count is commonly known to scholars as the Tzolkin [Tzolk'in] in the revised orthography of the Academia de las Lenguas Mayas de Guatemala. The Tzolk'in was combined with a 365-day vague solar year known as the Haab, to form a synchronized cycle lasting for 52 Haabs, called the Calendar Round. Smaller cycles of 13 days (the trecena) and 20 days (the veintena) were important components of the Tzolk'in and Haab' cycles, respectively. The Calendar Round is still in use by many groups in the Guatemalan highlands. A different calendar was used to track longer periods of time, and for the inscription of calendar dates (i.e., identifying when one event occurred in relation to others). This is the Long Count. It is a count of days since a mythological starting-point. According to the correlation between the Long Count and Western calendars accepted by the great majority of Maya researchers (known as the Goodman-Martinez-Thompson, or GMT correlation), this starting-point is equivalent to August 11, 3114 BCE in the Gregorian calendar or September 6, 3113BCE in the Julian calendar.

The GMT correlation was created by John Eric Sydney Thompson in 1935 on the basis of earlier correlations by Joseph Goodman in 1905, Juan Martnez Hernndez in 1926, and Thompson himself in 1927. Due to its linear nature, the Long Count was capable of extending to refer to any date into the past or future. This calendar consists of a positional notation system such that each position signified an increasing multiple of the number of days.
The Maya employed a vigesimal (base-20) count where each unit represents 20 times the unit of the position precededing it. An important exception was made for the second-order place value, which instead represented 18 20 [360 days], more closely approximating the solar year than would 20 20 = 400 days. Noteworthy, is how the Long Count cycles are independent of the solar year. Long Count inscriptions contain supplementary systems that calculate lunar phases, number of the current lunation in a series of six that the nine Lords of the Night rule over.

A 584-day Venus Cycle is also inherent, tracking the heliacal risings of Venus as the morning and evening stars. Venus cycles are considered astrologically ominous and evil, and occasionally warfare was astrologically timed to coincide with stages in this cycle. Less-prevalent cycles, combinations and calendar progressions have also been noted. An 819-day Count is attested in a few inscriptions. Repeating sets of 9-day (Nine Lords of the Night) and 13-day intervals associated with different groups of deities, animals, and other significant concepts are also known. There are also 13 constellations in the Mayan Astrology, including Ophicus.

Note then, that First Father is born on - 1 Ahau 16 Muan 12.19.11.13.0.1 [June 16, 3122 BC], a date that falls before the new Sun and the beginning of the present day Long Count (4 Ahau 8 Kumku 0.0.0.0.0). The first world created is that of land, sea and sky - filled with animals and birds, who squawked, chattered and howled, unable to speak the names of their Makers; thus their dwellings were limited to the wild places and told they would provide food for the beings that were to come. They consulted together to create this provider, this being that would invoke and remember them. First they shaped them from mud, but the beings proved to be too soft. The second time they made manikins from wood, but these beings could not remember their Makers, and were too stiff, and had no feelings and were unable to care for themselves or the animals that served them. So, the Creators sent a flood to wash them away, and they became monkeys - a sign of the previous Creation.

The Mexica-Maya-Andean scientists have tracked the rotation of the Milky Way since time immemorial; and have clocked its spinning movement in relation to the zodiac - in those places where it intersects the zodiac in Gemini/Taurus and Scorpio/Sagittarius - which marks the black-hole matrix of our galaxy.

The MILKY WAY is also represented as a male and female pair known as Citlaltonac [where the stars shine] and Citlalcue [star skirt; akin to the skirt of the sky, along the edge of the nebula strand of the galactic plate].
The Milky Way is viewed as a celestial river, a stream of blood (river of Itz), as sacred sustenance (blood/tears) or celestial dew, a serpent or dragon; the Crocodile or Cosmic Monster. Just as the ritual of baptism in an earthly river symbolize the soul's resurrection and re-birth in the earth, so is the astral journey of the Soul through the celestial river of the White Road. It is also the Paddler Canoe of the Priesthood; Stingray Paddler, The Maize God/First Father, and Jaguar Paddler.

Susan Milbrath (Star Gods of The Maya) states that "Constellations located at the intersection points of the Milky Way and the ecliptic (the Sun's path through the zodiac) seem to be especially important in Pre-Columbian Maya cosmology. The Pleiades are represented by the rattlesnake's rattle in Yucatan, an image that is also found in central Mexico. Orion's Belt represents a turtle constellation, but other stars in Orion may be linked with the Hearthstones of Creation. Scorpio is a scorpion in the northern Maya area, but to the south it may be a skeletal serpent known as the White-Bone-Snake. There is a fish-snake constellation in the region of Sagittarius, a star group associated with the Quadripartite God forming the rear head of the Cosmic Monster, gathering the sky. The Cosmic Monster itself then embodies the Milky Way, and the two areas where it intersects the ecliptic represent opposite forces, gateways, and human/earth seasons.

Itzamna/Sky Artist may symbolize the entire sky, where First Father is the primary spirit force behind the works of the sky. There are four pillars formed by the two sides of the Milky Way and the two sides of the ecliptic. The mid-section of the cardinal points [pillars] is divided by four more pillars of the Upper-World. The mirror image of these are then reflected in the Under-World of Xibalba.

The Milky Way is akin to a generative and destructive machination of gods and animals, as the creators and destroyers of the Great Cosmic Ages and Epochs. In this sense the Milky Way is the Cosmic Monster, displayed in reptile skin, a sky band body, deer ears, eyes, antlers, and feet; and portrays the division between the Under-World and Upper-World of the sky; where the ecliptic of the Sun's path crosses the White Road.
The Crossing Points of the ecliptic and the circle of the Milky Way lie within the Gemini/Taurus and Scorpio/Sagittarius; the virtual Portals of the Milky Way. The ecliptic is the Sun's path which is marked by the constellations of the Zodiac, are then regarded as points of energy and spirit, doorways to heaven, the human presence, and the underworld. The Gates of the 'White Road' then move through the under-world of Gemini/Taurus into the upper-world of Scorpio/Sagittarius. The dead enter the sky in the southern regions of Xibalba before ascending to the northern sky region of Heaven, at the mouth of the Cosmic Monster Sagittarius, in the Bow of the Archer.

Scorpio-Sagittarius: Sagittarius is portrayed in Maya art as a fish-snake, the White-Bone-Snake, or fanged dragon. The constellation of the Southern Cross represents the holy ceiba tree - the place where the souls of the dead ascend into heaven and the promised land - where they become stars. Taurus-Gemini: This region includes the Sirius/Orion relationship; Orion's Belt = Turtle [Three Heart-Stone Place of Creation], as the cosmic fire drill or central fireplace of the home. The Pleiades reside in Taurus, western field, centered around Acylone, Merope, Asterope and Electra. Castor and Pollux: At the head of Gemini (The Peccaries/Wild Hogs), these are the brightest twin stars in the sky and may be associated with the twin dwarfs, and also with the copulating peccaries. This region is also identified with the Plumed-Serpent and Hurricane.

The Pleiades and Orion reside at vital crossing points of the Milky Way, carrying images of the cosmic Snake and Turtle. In Maya cosmology the Triangulum of Orion contain 'the three hearth-stones of creation'. Milbrath states that the Yucatan Maya called the Pleiades, tzab, 'the rattlesnake's rattle'. The tzab were the unique insignia of the priests who carried a short stick with rattlesnakes' tails attached to it.
The Pleiades are located on the crossing of the ecliptic and the Milky Way, and referred to as 'the rattlesnake constellation'. The association of the Pleiades carries over to the Chicchan serpent, a feathered rain serpent connected with agricultural fertility since Olmec times. Karl Taube (Aztec & Maya Myths) suggests that this serpent may be related to Quetzalcoatl. The rain-productive planet Venus in the vicinity of the Pleiades occurs roughly between mid-March and mid-June. The Chicchan serpent in the Madrid Codex take the form of a hook. The Pleiades and constellation Perseus appear as a natural pair resembling a bent serpent (akin to the rain god Chac/Virgo The Executioner) in the Madrid Codex. Chac [Pectoral Plate] rides the Chicchan serpent when he is pouring rain from his jar. The rainy season is associated with the Sun's entrance into the regions of the Pleiades (Taurus) and Gemini. At Chichen-Itza the Feathered Serpent columns are covered with rattle-tails (Temple of the Warriors) and the Sun, Venus, and the Pleiades are all associated together.

One-Hunahpu is decapitated, and his head hung in a gourd tree as a warning to others. The Lords then bury their bodies under the ballcourt [Gemini]of Xibalba and return to their duties. A daughter of one of the Lords is curious and goes to see the skull left in the tree. When she speaks to it, she is told to offer out her hand, as the skull spits [itz] into her palm and impregnates her. When the father Lord discovers this, he is furious, and orders the Owls [Warriors] of Xibalba to kill her. The Owls take pity on her and let her escape into the middle world were people live. She [Blood] finds safety with her childrens Grandmother and gives birth to the Hero Twins; Hunahpu and Xbalanke. As the Hero Twins mature, they endure a series of adventures that define the makings of the World. They then discover a devious Rat who is stealing seeds from the cornfield. The Rat purchases his freedom by telling the Hero Twins where their Father and Uncle hid their ballgame equipment. Consecutive creations unfold in 3114BC, 1000BC, 200BC, and 690AD; include First Father/Mother, Hero Twins, Zipacna and the 400 Boys [Pleiades], with the Sun, Mercury, Venus, the Moon, Mars, and Jupiter in each sequence.

The Quaripartite God, or Galactic Center at the Ecliptic, rises in the sky in the Bow of Sagittarius. It is a symbolic plate of the Vision Serpent, the severed head of the Maize God/First Father, and defines the holy of holies, the Maya Grail. It is a symbol often found worn by the gods and spirits as a pectoral, or chest plate. It rest at the base of the Raised-Up-Sky as a bulge in the Milky Way, in Scorpio, the image of a blood-letter, lies within it. The conjunction of the ecliptic will gradually rise westward, turning the White Road to an east-west orientation, referred to as the Cosmic Monster. The Hero Twins final Creation event is their confrontation with Seven Macaw; a bird with beautiful blue teeth and metallic eyes. Seven Macaw is so vain, that he claims he is the Sun and is to be worshipped by all. Vanity runs in his family, where his sons Zipacna and Earthquake claim they had made the earth and could bring down the sky. Offended by their claims, the Twins decide to teach them a lesson. They know that Seven Macaw ate at a nance tree, so they lay in wait for him and shot him with their blowguns. A pellet strikes the teeth of the bird, which abscess and cause him great pain. Seven Macaw then seeks the aid of an old grandfather who tells him that his eyes and teeth have to be removed. Overcome with pain, Seven Macaw agrees, and he is seen for how he really is, and his greatness leaves him.
Zipacna lures 400 Boys into his house and collapses it on them, killing all of them. Determined to stop him, the Twins build a false Crab and place it in a canyon and lure Zipacna to it. Hungry and broken, Zipacna attempts to get inside the shell to eat of it and becomes trapped. The mountain then settles on his chest and he is turned to stone. Earthquake is defeated as well. With the death of the Lords and the resurrection of their Father and Uncle, the Twins then rise from Xilbaba, where the Sun is associated to Xbalanke and the Moon to Hunahpu. The 400 Boys also resurrect with them and are set in the sky forever as The Pleiades.

A careful evaluation of the Zipacna Mayan myth reveals that they were aware of how to calculate exactly the time cycle that governs successive Earth-Mercury synodic conjunctions, when a planetary cycle brings it back to near original system point. The Creation Mayan myth then hinges upon the significance of the extra one-day correction every 128 years to synchronize the Earth's orbital period with respect to a whole number of days, to achieve a most exacting level of accuracy. In the myth Zipacna as a character is actively representative of this special one-day correction every 128 years. The hole that is dug into the ground is itself representative of an alignment of Earth and Mercury. When Zipacna digs his side tunnel and places himself inside it just offset from the main shaft, he represents a discrepancy in a real astronomical-calendrical sense. The 400 Boys above ground waiting to place their pole into the shaft also represent a 400 day correction. One can see then that what at face value first appears to be a story involving a simple encounter with someone walking along a beach bumping into 400 Boys attempting to erect a hut, is in fact a complex story encoding calendar corrections that allow one to accurately define a value for the Earth tropical year, including a value for the synodic conjunction period involving the Earth and Mercury. The ultimate value as derived by the two noted corrections of 46,351 days, is a value that contains a whole number series of precisely 400 such conjunctions. The completion of such a number of conjunctions is symbolized by the death of the boys at the hands of Zipacna.

If we consider the Creation date given by the Maya with each twenty cycles set at thirteen, we see it will take 41,943,040,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 tuns for the highest noted cycle to turn to one. This obviously seems extreme -- as it relates time in banded cycles, like the waves formed from a stone thrown in water -- even though it is viewed as being linear; thus, each stage is an echo of the previous state. What we need to remember here is that the Maya perceive time on such a grand scale that it appears to move on a straight line as even their creation date is a echo of an even grander event, or cycle of time. Circles within circles within circles, and the ever greater sense that time is far more distant into a past than one may first be willing to believe. The Tzolkin date is a combination of two "week" lengths. While our calendar uses a single week of seven days, the Mayan calendar used two different lengths of week: a numbered week of 13 days, in which the days were numbered from 1 to 13; a named week of 20 days: The named week is 20 days and the smallest Long Count digit is 20 days, there is synchronicity between the two; if, for example, the last digit of todays Long Count is 0, today must be Ahau; if it is 6, it must be Cimi. Since the numbered and the named week were both "weeks," each of their name/number change daily; therefore, the day after 3 Cimi is not 4 Cimi, but 4 Manik, and the day after that, 5 Lamat. The next time Cimi rolls around, 20 days later, it will be 10 Cimi instead of 3 Cimi. The next 3 Cimi will not occur until 260 (or 13 x 20) days have passed. This 260-day cycle also had good-luck or bad-luck associations connected with each day, and for this reason, it became known as the "divinatory year. The "years" of the Tzolkin calendar are not counted.

This count is the variable slider that lies in the Aztec/Maya Calendar system. It may very well be the numerating variable that then creates so much question of the Long Count. In regard to the non-counted activity of the Tzolkin dating it can be viewed as vital balancing of the Long Count, relative to the Zipacna astral dating-shift legend in the Popol Vhu.

The Haab was the civil calendar of the Mayas. It consisted of 18 "months" of 20 days each, followed by 5 extra days, known asUayeb. This generates an annual length of 365 days. The days of the month were numbered from 0 to 19. In contrast to the Tzolkin dates, the Haab month names changed every 20 days instead of daily, thus the date name has 20 alternates to it before it turns over.
The Uayeb days acquired a very derogatory reputation for bad luck; known as "days without names" or "days without souls," and were observed as days of prayer and mourning. Fires were extinguished and the population refrained from eating hot food. Anyone born on those days was "doomed to a miserable life. The years of the Haab calendar are not counted. The length of the Tzolkin year was 260 days and the length of the Haab year was 365 days. The smallest number that can be divided evenly by 260 and 365 is 18,980, or 36552; this was known as the Calendar Round. If a day is, for example, "4 Ahau 8 Cumku," the next day falling on "4 Ahau 8 Cumku" would be 18,980 days or about 52 years later. Among the Aztec, the end of a Calendar Round was a time of public panic as it was thought the world might be coming to an end. When the Pleiades crossed the horizon they knew the world had been granted another 52-year extension.

The Fourth Creation is the world we live in today, where once again, the Creators Xpiyakok and Xmukane gather the Bearer, the Begetter, Makers and Modelers, and they prepare this world. Knowing that they desire to create a being that will recognize then and honor them, they decide to make them from yellow and white corn but, do not know where to find any. Fortunately, a Fox, a Coyote, a Parrot, and a Crow come to help them, brining news of a mountain called Split-Place [Yax-Hal-Witz], the First True Mountain. The mountain is full of fine foods, and Xmuanke/First Mother grinds the yellow and white corn nine times, that becomes human flesh, and the grease form the water she washes her hands in becomes human fat. She forms the first Four Humans, who were called Jagua-Kitze, Jaguar-Night, Mahuktah, and True-Jaguar. These are the ancestors of this creation They were simply made and modeled, it is said; they had no mother and no father. They are perfect beings Perfectly they saw, perfectly they knew everything under the sky, whenever they looked. Like the gods, their knowledge was limitless and they could see through everything. The first humans praised their Creators and thanked them, which greatly pleased them. Still, there was a worry that these beings could see as well as the gods, out to the Four Sides of Creation, to the Four Corners of the sky and on the earth. Modeler and Maker disapprove of this, as the beings were artifacts created by the gods. Not wanting to destroy them, they decide to change them slightly And when they changed the nature of their works, their designs, it was enough that the eyes be marred by the Heart of The Sky. They were blinded as the face of a mirror is breathed upon. Their eyes were weakened. Now it was only when they looked nearby that things were clear. This is considered how humanity was given permanent myopia.

Lord Pakal (23 March 603 28 August 683) was ruler of the Maya of Palenque in the Late Classic Period. During a long reign of some 68 years Pakal was responsible for the construction or extension of some of Palenque's most notable surviving inscriptions and monumental architecture. Known by an assortment of nicknames and approximations, common ones including Pakal/Pacal [8 Ahau] and (familiar) as Pacal the Great, the title means Sun Shield. His name at times is appended with a regnal number to distinguish him from other Janaab' Pakals that either preceded or followed him in the dynastic lineage of Palenque. The Pacal Lords are then very similar to the Pharaohs of Egyptian civilization. Lord Pakal ascended the throne at age 12, on July 29, 615AD, and lived to the age of 80. He saw expansion of Palenque's power in the western part of the Maya states, and initiated a building program at his capital that produced some of Maya civilization's finest art and architecture. He was preceded as ruler of Palenque by his mother, Lady Sak K'uk. As the Palenque dynasty seems to have had Queens only when there was no eligible male heir, Sak K'uk' transferred kingship to her son upon his official maturity.

After his death, Pakal was succeeded by his son Chan Bahlum II. A younger son, Kan Xul II, succeeded his brother Chan Bahlum II. After his death, Pakal was deified and said to communicate with his descendants. Pakal was buried within the Temple of Inscriptions. Though Palenque had been examined by archaeologists before, the secret to opening his tombclosed off by a stone slab with stone plugs in the holes, which had until then escaped the attention of archaeologistswas discovered by Mexican archaeologist Alberto Ruz Lhuillier in 1948. It took four years to clear the rubble from the stairway leading down to his tomb, and was finally uncovered in 1952. His skeletal remains were still lying in his coffin, wearing a jade mask and bead necklaces, surrounded by sculptures and stucco reliefs depicting the ruler's transition to divinity, and figures from Maya mythology. The large carved stone sarcophagus lid in the Temple of Inscriptions is a famous piece of Classic Maya art. The widely accepted interpretation of the sarcophagus lid is that Pakal is descending into Xibalba, the Maya Under-World. Around the edges of the lid are glyphs representing the Sun, the Moon, Venus, and various constellations, locating this event in the night sky. Below him is the Maya water god, who guards the Under-World. Beneath Pakal are the "unfolded" jaws of a dragon or serpent, which Pakal is escaping from, ascending towards the world tree. This is a common iconographic representation of the entrance to the Under-World. August 13th, 683 AD As he dies, Pakal falls along the Milky Way into the southern horizon. This falling is called och-be -- He entered The Road . The Mayan word for this pathway is Sak-Bih, The White Road, as the term Xibalbah-Bih is to the Road of Awe. This is similar to Egyptian views of death in the passage of certain Pharaohs into Osiris and the constellation of Orion.

To the Mayan, Venus was an important planet, heavily tied in to their creation and worldage mythologies and even acts of War. Indeed, the planet was considered a central character in the transition from one world age to the next. As a result , the Maya were concerned with accurately tracking its passage though the heavens, most especially relative to the earths own orbit. The primary method to track Venus was in noting the successive passage of conjunctions between it and the Earth. Over many thousands of years, the Maya determined a set of exceptionally accurate values for both the length of the Earth tropical year, and the Venus orbital period (year). The Maya were fully aware of the so called year drift formula (Precession), that relates the true length of the tropical year to a more basic calendar year of 365 days exactly. For any culture concerned with tracking periodic conjunctions between the Earth and Venus, it is readily apparent, in light of the values for the orbital periods of both bodies, that there is almost an exact re-alignment of the Earth and Venus every 8 tropical years. Thus, if one were to begin with an initial conjunction between both planets and the sun, after 8 tropical years, Venus will have completed just over 13 orbits about the sun. There is then a basic 8/13 conjunction cycle between the Earth and Venus; one that is repeated at a relatively short celestial interval. However, the cycle itself is not perfect, as the Earth will have returned to its initial position, Venus will have slightly outpaced the Earth, having already entered into its 14th orbit. Thus, there will be a distinct Advance of Venus after 8 tropical years.

A Venus Transit occurs with Venus passing directly in front of the Sun. A transit pass can only occur with the inner planets Mercury/Venus - because they are the only two that lie between the Earth and Sun during their orbits. The current Venus Transits come in pairs, spaced eight years apart. There will be one transit on June 8, 2004 and one on June 6, 2012. In one 243-year Venus Transit cycle there are two pair spaced 121.5 8 years apart. The last Venus Transit Pair occurred 129.5 years ago in 1874 and 1882. The next pair will occur 113.5 years from this one, in 2117 and 2125. With the Venus Crossing of June 8th, 2004, to the Venus Crossing of June, 6, 2012 is approximately 2921 Days between the pair. This is equivalent to 122, twenty-four year groups of planetary movement. The Sun/Jupiter pairs of September, 21, 2004 to May, 13, 2012 is approximately 2792 days of astral passage for the full Creation theme to run its course. Thus, the Sun/Jupiter passage occurs within the time-frame of the Venus Pair Crossing by 128 days, where this is just within the 8 year pattern of Venus Crossings. Although the accepted version of the Maya Long Count system depicts an astral marker of December 21st, 2012, it is visible that the Sun is alone in traversing the point of Creation, or Galactic Center on that date. Considering every member of the Creation of Family is far from any relative point of conjunct positioning, or that the lack of the Jupiter/Sun conjunction is more than evident thus, not fitting the scenario of the Maya Creation Theme, it is highly unlikely that this date is properly calculated to fit the astral positioning for Creation. It is then suggested, that one consider all the previous evidences presented herein to observe the Central Venus Transit within the Creation Theme to find evidence of an astral position for First Father [the sky itself], First Mother [Moon], The Hero Twins [Sun/Moon], The Fire God [Jupiter], and Tlaloc [God of War/Venus]. They are not present on 12/21/2012 --However, they are very much so present in the Winter of 2007, in the midst of the Venus Transit right where they belong..!!
