Testers: I chose the two testers based on their familiarity level with AdAstra (none) and their ability to do the test in the time I had to complete it. They represented two very different ages and technological abilities. The two users gave different feedback which was very useful. Setting: User 1 completed the usability test in Rosenberg Hall around 10pm. The setting was quiet which was advantageous. User 2 completed the test in his office. The familiar setting helped create the type of environment that he would usually request a room. Method: I observed both users from about 5 feet away. I wrote down where they got stuck and how I could possibly help that situation. They filled out a questionnaire afterwards and gave any other comments verbally. Results: The results were positive for my reference guide and provided very good suggestions. Both users contributed constructive criticism that I used to edit my guide. I added the web site to the guide after the first user test. This eliminated a source of frustration for user 2. User 2 was confused about where the buttons were at some points. I added locations in the descriptions to solve this problem. I also added the arrows after completing the usability test. Overall, the usability test was a new experience for me that was very successful.
