ISSUE ANALYSIS PRESENTATION Presenter/Topic: Joan Kronlein ~ The Art of Caring

Criteria PREPARATION FOR PRESENTATION: Student posted article to online discussion board for peers by due date and they were accessible, scholarly, and were helpful to peers in understanding the issue to be discussed. A. INTRODUCTION: The issue and its relevance to nursing was made clear. The objectives for the seminar were clear, measurable, and relevant to the issue. B. THEORY BASE: Relevant theories are discussed. At least one must be from the nursing discipline, and at least one must be from another discipline. It is clear how these theories relate to the issue being discussed, and why it is important to consider this issue from an interdisciplinary perspective. C. ASSESSMENT OF THE HEALTH CARE ENVIRONMENT: The issue is explored from a systems framework by considering policies, resources, and quality and safety issues that may be related to this issue. Underlying assumptions are identified as well. A RCA (root cause analysis) is included. D. INFERENCES and IMPLICATIONS/CONSEQUENCES: The student follows up the assessment of the healthcare environment with a thoughtful reflection on what the logical interpretation of this information, as well as the most likely outcomes related to this issue based on the various points of view. E. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR QUALITY AND SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS: Based on the analysis of the previous sections and the research/literature reviewed, the student shares realistic interventions or strategies that could improve quality and safety related to this issue. 95 -2 Very good narration with great examples given. I agree with the entire student comments (which were good) on their evaluations sent to you. I feel that you should have given more in-depth explanation in the narrating of your presentation on section D. I would have liked to see you reference some of the higher level ANA standards. The ones you did use were explained well.

Attire and demeanor is professional! The student stimulates group discussion, directs the flow of discussion, encourages balanced participation, and maintains group control. The length of the seminar stays within expected time frame of 50-60 minutes. A variety of creative presentation methods are used. PowerPoint Presentations are acceptable, but are not the only method nor should they be read from. Summarizes relevant themes.

You did a great job in the discussion board discussions. Also you could have been more creative with pictures to add interest to the presentation. Be sure that you recheck for spelling and punctuation. I did note a few errors. Again, great job. 93/100
