Possible Causes
The administrator has shut down the interface or modified configuration of the interface. The Ethernet interface is disconnected. The administrator has shut down the remote interface or modified configuration of the remote interface. The interface is shut down by a protection function on the switch.

Procedure
Step 1 Check the cable connection on the interface and ensure that the interface is properly connected to the remote interface. Step 2 Check whether the interface has been manually shut down on the Device Information page of the web NMS. If the interface needs to transmit data, start the interface. Step 3 Check whether the interface has been shut down by any of the following functions: Bridge protocol data unit (BPDU) protection Dynamic ARP inspection (DAI) Broadcast storm suppression Port security If so, ignore the alarm. ----End

The optical module may be damaged when the optical power exceeds the rated power.

Possible Causes
The optical module is used for long-distance transmission but is connected to a fiber with a short transmission distance.

Procedure
Use an attenuator on the fiber connected to the optical module.

Impact on the System


If this alarm is cleared soon, the system is not affected. If the alarm persists for a long time, the service processing performance of the system deteriorates.

Possible Causes
The switch receives a large number of protocol packets because it undergoes an attack, for example a denial-of-service (DoS) attack.

Procedure
Step 1 If the alarm persists for a long time, capture packets on interfaces to check whether the switch receives a large number of protocol packets. Step 2 If an attack occurs, contact Huawei technical support personnel. ----End

The switch may be damaged if it works at a high temperature for a long time.

Possible Causes
The fan does not work. The ambient temperature exceeds the operating temperature range of the switch.

Step 1 Check that the fan works normally. Step 2 Check that the ambient temperature is within the operating temperature range of the switch. ----End
